Li Na stepped out of the party hall, her heels clicking softly on the wet marble floor as she halted just outside the entrance. The air was thick with the scent of rain, and the sky had opened up, releasing a steady downpour that soaked the earth in moments. Her eyes flickered toward the sky, watching as the rain fell in heavy sheets, creating a curtain between her and the world.

Wang Dawei followed behind her, his footsteps quickening as he caught up to her. He paused beside her, glancing at the rain and then back at her. "Wait here," he said, his voice softer than usual, almost gentle. "I'll go get the car."

She nodded absently, her mind far away from the present moment. Wang Dawei hesitated for a second, his eyes lingering on her, but then he left, disappearing into the rain-soaked night.
