After finally leaving the secret route that led to his hamlet, Nanuq looked around. He saw a small, clear lake where several Pokemon use to drink water and a dusty old road that would take him to the outskirts of Opelucid City. While the lake was nameless, the residents of Nanuq's village gave it the name Lake Marina.

Since Nanuq had left the village at midday and it was now well past two o'clock, it had taken him roughly two hours to get to the ancient sandy road. Although Unova was fairly big, contrary to popular belief, this was not a game in which you had to pass one or two routes to get to your target!

Nanuq kept going, his heart hammering against his chest like a set of drums. He needed a respite from the incessant traveling, and he knew Gyarados was bored inside its PokeBall, which raised the question. What do Pokemon do inside their Pokeballs? Nanuq was continuously thinking about this elusive subject, and the only people who knew the answer were the creators.

Nanuq paused a few feet from the lake's edge before sitting down. He reached for the premier ball around his neck and tossed it into the air. In a flash of light, Gyarados appeared in all its brilliance, sinking into the lake with a splash. Fortunately, Nanuq was in an area where he could avoid the water.

Gyarados appeared from the lake's depths, with the majority of its body still submerged. Its red eyes fixed on Nanuq before it looked around, taking in the sights before it. From Nanuq's perspective, it appeared that Gyarados had never seen such an environment before. Nanuq was surprised to learn this, which most likely reflected its distinct hue. Could it have escaped somewhere?

Whatever the matter might be, Gyarados was now Nanuq's responsibility. He was determined to find out what made this Gyarados unique from the rest of its species and expose the truth. Nanuq was on his way to Opelucid City, hoping that the Dragon-Type Gym was aware of the situation. Unlike Nanuq's village, the Dragon-Type Gym was lenient about a Pokemon's typing.

Nanuq couldn't help but sigh when he realized that he had been banished because he had partnered with a Pokémon that wasn't a Dragon Type. The village was at odds since the other branches of the Dragon Clan knew about their contempt for all other Pokemon types. Because of their harsh and callous doctrines and deeds, Anguis Village was the most isolated of the various branches in Unova.

When Nanuq realized he was falling asleep again, he shook his head and chose to rest on his back with his hands behind his head. His eyes blinked owlishly. To take over as the village's new leader, he would have to become more powerful than Lama, the village elder. Despite his advanced age, Lama was well over a century old, and Dragon Clan members can live for nearly 150 years.

With his thoughts relaxed, Nanuq started mentally formulating plans for upcoming conflicts. All of his Gyarados' moves were Iron Head, Ice Fang, and Roar.

First, he would need to teach it a move of the Water Type!

"This is a nice place you guys got here."

"It's merely a rental, nothing extravagant about it."

"Is that correct? Perhaps I should purchase this property from your ungrateful hands."

"Boss, please be less blunt and more professional...they're our buyers."

There were six people in a traditional house in Opelucid City, the first three of whom were the men from earlier. The boss was seated comfortably in a soft chair, his long hair covering his left eye swaying slightly, and his lone red eye looked around as if unaffected by the glares from the men on the other side.

"You're...certainly a character...what was your name again?"

His crimson eyes were like a scalpel cutting through butter as the boss's far-off stare returned to the soldiers on the opposite side. "It's Pyrus."

For an instant, the room's temperature seemed to rise, but it quickly returned to its typical level. The house seemed to be overtaken by a heat wave as a result of Pyrus's statements!

"Well, Pyrus, my name is Bora, the son of Zinzolin, one of the sages of..."

"Let's refrain from showing off our status here. Businessmen don't have to, do they?"

Bora's expression changed to one of bewilderment and annoyance. His first impression of Pyrus completely vanished, and he was filled with contempt for this strangely distant man. Though he seemed to be lost in his own world and incredibly casual, there was a hint of sarcasm in his statements.

Bora calmly said, "Yes...I'll have to...agree with you on that fact, but my father and comrades are willing to let the last transaction go without a problem."

After a few moments of staring at Bora, Pyrus let out a sigh. "Yes, that wasn't one of our best moments. It doesn't matter; it can always be replaced, which is the reason for this transaction."

Bora gave a nod. "I would like to test it out, to truly see if your fancy science has brought any results."

The thin lips of Pyrus curled slightly. "Surely not in a place as elegant as this? The hazel-coated walls have become appealing to me."

"Certainly not. It's best to do this in an open field, away from inquisitive eyes." However, when Bora pronounced those words, a lethal glimmer appeared in his eyes, which no one observed except the calculative Pyrus.

"If I recall, we can travel to the outskirts of this city. There's a lake nearby."

"If that's the case, lead the way."

As the purchasers departed the house, Pyrus took one last look around, deciding that he would buy this property. After all, he once called this place home.

Nanuq's eyes were closed, and the relaxing wind that brushed over him appeared to have a softness to it as if it were soothing Nanuq's mind and spirit. However, the wind could be much more than that, as it carried an ominous fragrance. His eyes widened as his body jerked up.

Trouble was brewing.
