Chapter 25: The Hunt Final

Alan looked around the camp, which lay in smoldering ruins. "Ahh that was Epic."

The bodies of bandits were scattered amidst the wreckage, their once intimidating presence now reduced to ash and charred remains. The air was thick with the acrid smell of smoke, mingling with the metallic scent of blood. Alan's heart was pounding from the intensity of the battle, but he knew his work was not done. He needed to ensure that there were no surviving bandits hiding within the camp and, most importantly, that the captives were freed.

"Time to free some slaves." Alan said out laud.

He began to walk through the camp, alert for any signs of life. The destruction he had wrought was complete; the bandits' defenses lay in tatters, and the once bustling camp was eerily silent. Alan approached the storage spaces where the slaves were kept, his footsteps echoing off the scorched earth.

Alan approached the first storage area cautiously, pushing the door open with a creak. Inside, the human slaves were huddled together, their eyes wide with fear and uncertainty.

Alan's heart ached at the sight of their bruised and battered bodies, the marks of their captivity etched painfully on their skin.

"It's okay," Alan said gently, raising his hands to show he meant no harm. "You're free now. The bandits are dead."

The slaves looked at him with a mix of hope and disbelief. One of the older men, his face lined with age and hardship, stepped forward. "Who are you?" he asked, his voice trembling.

"My name is not important here," he replied. "I took down the bandits. You're safe now."

Alan was wearing a helmet over his head to cover his face, He did this because if the news that he took out the bandits got out. He would have to disclose his loot and there will be another target on his back from the pissed off nobles. 'Like hell I'm gonna give my name to them…' Alan thought to himself.

Alan moved through the room, breaking the chains that bound the slaves. One by one, the chains fell to the ground with a metallic clatter. The captives were slow to react, still processing the fact that their ordeal was over. As the reality of their freedom began to sink in, tears of relief streamed down their faces.

"Thank you," the old man whispered, his voice choked with emotion. "We thought we'd never see the light of day again."

"You're free to go," Alan said, looking around at the group.

A young woman, clutching a child to her chest, looked up at Alan with gratitude in her eyes. "Thank you," she said softly. "You've given us a second chance."

"Happy to be in service." Alan said to the women.

Alan nodded and moved to the next room. He could hear the sounds of movement inside and prepared himself for whatever awaited him. He pushed the door open and found a group of beast kin. Their animalistic features—ears, tails, fur—marked them as different, and they eyed Alan warily, their bodies tense with mistrust.

Alan took a deep breath. "I'm not here to hurt you," he said, trying to convey sincerity. "I've defeated the bandits. You're free now."

A beast kin with wolf-like features stepped forward, his eyes narrowed. "Why should we believe you? Humans have only ever brought us pain."

"I understand your distrust," Alan replied, meeting the wolf-man's gaze. "I don't care if you belive me or not. Do whatever you want. As I said before I have taken care of the bandits for you so your welcome…".

The wolf-man sniffed the air, his eyes searching Alan's face for any signs of deceit. Finally, he nodded. "If what you say is true, then we owe you our thanks."

"Yeah whatever…" Alan walked out of that room.

Alan moved through the room, breaking the chains that held the beast kin captive. The tension in the air began to ease, and as the chains fell, the beast kin began to relax. Some nodded their thanks, while others simply watched in silence.

A young beast kin girl with fox-like ears and a bushy tail approached Alan hesitantly. "Thank you," she said in a small voice. "You're very brave."

Alan smiled gently. "You're brave too. Now, go."

The last room held a group of elves, their elegant features marred by bruises and dirt. Their eyes, filled with a mixture of sorrow and defiance, softened slightly as they saw Alan.

"I'm here to free you," Alan said, stepping into the room. "The bandits are gone."

An elven woman with silver hair and piercing blue eyes stepped forward. "Why would a human risk his life for us?" she asked, her voice filled with skepticism.

"I don't know I felt like doing it." Alan replied simply. "You're free now."

He moved through the room, breaking the chains that bound the elves. They watched him closely, their expressions a mix of gratitude and caution. As the last chain fell, the elven woman who had spoken earlier approached him.

"You have done a great deed," she said, her voice softening. "We are in your debt."

"Just stay safe," Alan replied. "And help those who need it."

'WOW that felt really weird!' Alan thought to himself.

Some of the elves murmured their thanks as they began to file out of the room. Others simply nodded, their eyes conveying their gratitude.

With the captives freed, Alan turned his attention to the bandits' loot. He returned to the leader's luxurious room, its opulence now seeming grotesque amidst the destruction. The big wooden desk, with its detailed engravings, still stood as a testament to the leader's arrogance. Alan searched through the drawers, finding gold coins, valuable potions, and several high-quality weapons.

"Oh boy this is great. I'm really gonna be rich, nice swords too." He said to himself.

He also discovered a dimensional storage ring, a valuable item that would make carrying his spoils much easier. "Wow this one looks really high end, yeah and it got more space in it too." Alan said checking out the ring.

Slipping it onto his finger, he began to transfer the loot into the ring. The leader had amassed a significant amount of wealth, and Alan knew that these resources would be put to better use in his hands.

Once he had gathered everything of value, Alan made his way out of the camp. The flames had begun to die down, leaving the camp a smoldering ruin. He could see the freed captives making their way towards the forest.

Where was their destination he didn't know and didn't care…..
