"He announced his preference for men to the king and announced his engagement to Adam Belet, " Rhon's words felt like I'd been punched in the gut. 

Rhon didn't notice my inner turmoil and continued to poke. "Had I given you this news before Westblood? You would be raced out of this room to go to him. Now, I don't see any reaction on your face, " he claimed. 

He ruined my peaceful moment in the pool. It hurt to learn that Prince Zephirin was getting engaged to another, at the same time, I was happy to hear that he was taking a step forward to forget me. 

I masked my feelings well and stepped out of the pool. I had heard enough from Rhon, using this time to try and provoke me to come alive. 

"I don't want to discuss this ever again. So drop it, " I cautioned him. He got to his feet to attend to me, I raised my hand in the air and stopped him from proceeding forward.
