Bab 24: Chapter 24: Cursed Relics & Energy Relics.
"Hm… what an interesting old man… I wonder how he ended up in this shithole." Julius muttered to himself as he walked home.
A satisfied smile could be seen on his face. After all, he had discovered what all four artefacts were capable of after the old man finished appraising them.
It wasn't just the sword that stood out, each and every one of them had a unique effect.
They were so unique in fact that he had given up on carrying one of them on a backpack and decided to wear it.
The one he had chosen was the long dark cloak.
'This cloak covers not only the wearer's presence but creates a thin layer over the wearer which makes them invisible when active… The old man appraised it to be 5000 New World Credits if not higher.'

[The Cloak has a unique effect applied to it, which must be activated through energy consumption.]

Unlike the cursed blade which is always active and applies whenever it cuts someone however, this cloak only activates when the wearer pours internal energy into it.
To try it out again, Julius began to pour energy into the cloak on his walk home.
[Energy: 90% -> 85% -> 80%]
Julius's energy was drained, and at that moment, he disappeared from sight, surprising those who had been looking in his direction.
'This… is amazing.'
He looked down at himself, although others couldn't seem to see him, he could see himself perfectly.
[Energy: 75% -> 70%]
'The problem lies… in the amount of energy consumed…'
Julius placed his palm on his face.
'Actually, it's not even that. The reason a lot of energy is always consumed is because I barely have any…'
[Status.]
[Strength: 5]

[Sense: 2]
Julius scratched the back of his head, and deactivated the hoodie in the middle of the road, once again surprising others as he appeared out of thin air.
'I need to focus on increasing my stamina…'
Julius shook his head.
'Still, I ended up learning a lot from this… there are different types of relics. The two types that I'm aware right now are cursed relics and energy consuming relics. I should've asked the old man if there were others.'
He looked at his backpack.
Aside from the cursed blade yugen, there were two remaining relics. One of which being a unique pair of leather gloves with strangely shaped runes inscribed on them and strings running across the leather.
It too was an energy consuming relic, but Julius didn't plan on using it, he planned to give it to Lyra. The unique effect that it held was perfect for someone like Lyra.
'If you pour energy into the gloves, the runes will activate and your hand and grip strength will increase… but that's not all. The strings themselves can be shot out and used in various different ways.'
"The more energy applied to the strings, the stronger they become… worth 3500 New World Credits. It would work great in conjunction with Lyra's threads ability."
Julius looked back into the path ahead, being careful not to crash into anyone.
"That brings us onto the last relic…" He whispered with a concerned look.
The last relic was also an energy consuming relic, a steel chestplate. After deploying energy into it, it would activate a small forcefield around the wearer.
The forcefield would also move around with the wearer making it quite useful for the defensive.
The problem was Julius wasn't sure how effective and durable the forcefield was.
The only tests he could conduct back at the old man's appraisal office was activating them by pouring energy as he had instructed.
"Haa… it's worth 2500 New World Credits until I can figure how durable it is." Julius sighed. "At least I've figured out what they all can do… I'm tired. I'll head back home."
'We also need to decide how we're gonna split the relics amongst us… and what we're all going to do from now.'
Julius looked up at the blue sky.
"Ah… that reminds me. The old man told me that I could sell the relics to the hunters association but that selling it to a trusted third party would be far more profitable… If any of them plan on selling the relics they get, we'll have to look for a reliable source."

Julius stood in front of his house, frozen as he stared at the door. His heart was pounding.
*Thump!* *Thump!*
'Has Ava woken up…? Will I hear some good news…?'
He shook his head and unlocked it with the key. The moment he opened it-
He was greeted by a short stunningly gorgeous black-haired girl stood in front of the door with her arms crossed. She frowned as she stared at him.
"So you're finally back." Said Ruby.
Julius was confused by her gaze, she looked somewhat annoyed. Had he done something bad which he wasn't aware of?
"Next time you leave, maybe give us a heads up next time? What if something had happened while you were gone?" She asked, still standing in his path.
"Ah right, sorry. I'll make sure to do that next time."
"Haa…"
Hearing those words, Ruby sighed and stepped out of the way.
"Now hurry along, there's someone waiting for you." She declared with a smile.
*Thump!*
Julius's heart almost skipped a beat when he heard her words.
He rushed into the house, slamming the door shut before running straight into the room opposite to his. It was Ava and Lyra's room, the room they had all slept in the previous night.
Upon entering it, he froze by the entrance.
Sat on top of the bed was a very beautiful midnight blue haired maiden. She had long blue eyelashes with dark blue eyes which resembled sapphires.
The beauty before him was among the two people with whom he had spent most of his life. One of the few people he treasured more than anything else.
It was Ava, she had finally woken up.
"Welcome back, Julius." Said Ava as she smiled at him.
Hearing her words caused something to stir within him. Before he even realised it, tears began to stream down his face.
"Yeah, I'm back, Ava."
Ava was surprised to seeing him cry, Julius wasn't one to express himself much in front of them.
But just as she was about to comment on it, she noticed that she too had tears flowing down her face.
"Thank you for saving us once again… I promise we'll pay you back."
She lowered her head, quickly trying to rub away the tears.
'That's weird… why won't they stop flowing..?' She wondered.
She rubbed and rubbed but the tears wouldn't stop coming out.
"What're you saying, you idiot? You don't have to thank me or pay me back... I'll save you as many times as you want... understood?" Julius responded.
'Ah… I get why I'm crying now... I'm relieved… happy to be alive… happy that everything went well… if not for him, this wouldn't have been possible.'
She slowly looked back up at him, her nose red and her eyes still watery but this time a bright smile could be seen.
"Mn…" She nodded happily. "Understood… thank you Julius."
It was the first time that Julius had ever seen such a smile on her face.
The Ava that he knew was usually expressionless which was why the smile tugged at his heart strings even more.
