Bab 1: Chapter 1
"SHANE MYERS, IF YOU DO NOT GET OUT OF BED IN THE NEXT 30 SECONDS, I WILL GET A CUP OF COLD WATER!!"
Facedown with his head under his pillow and blankets covering half his body, Shane was moaning and groaning as he reached to the nightstand by the side of his bed to grab his phone.
Peeking his head out from under the pillow to look at the time, he groans even louder and puts his head back under the pillow.
"God, it's five in the morning, school doesn't start till eight! Why do I have to get up so early!?" Complaining to himself about why his mom is waking him up at the crack of dawn when she usually goes straight to work.
'And I don't think even she gets up this early to get ready for work. She starts work at seven, and it's only a 10-minute drive!' Wondering why my mom is up so early, my mind starts to drift to my father who died two years ago.
My dad was an alcoholic. One day right after work, he went straight to a bar and drank himself into oblivion till closing time. They kicked him out but forgot to take his keys, so he tried to drive home both drunk and sleepy!
He barely drove a couple of blocks before he fell speed up and drove right into a telephone pole at nearly 70 mph! He died on impact.
So now it's just me, my mom, little brother, and little sister.

Throwing the pillows and blankets off and giving himself a couple of light slaps on the face to wake up. Sitting up on the bed and stretching a little then getting up, and since he has been 16 he has been doing odd jobs and playing sports here and there, plus he had a huge growth spurt.
So he doesn't look like your usual 18 year old, standing at 6ft tall with healthy white skin with a couple of blemishes and scars on his body from a variety of different childhood stunts, but it is toned like a swimmers with a simple crew cut haircut! Both his hair and eyes are dark brown and although he wasn't the most handsome he was a solid 7.
Mom(Leah):"SHANE ARE YOU UP YET I NEED TO GET GOING AND I NEED YOU TO HELP ME DO SOME STUFF!"
Getting a random shirt from the floor and putting it on I head out the bedroom to the kitchen where my mom is getting her lunch out of the fridge. Standing at 5'5" with brown hair and eyes and a little on the chubby side but not overweight. She is in a rush to get everything ready so she can not be late at whatever she has to do.
Rubbing my eyes and after yawning I question my mom,"What are you in a rush for i thought you don't start work till 8, why are you up and waking me up." While talking I get a water bottle out of the fridge and drink some.
Mom(Leah):"My boss just called, saying that a new higher paying position just opened up but it's just a trial run but its mine if I can impress him by the end of the day! And the reason i got you up is that i need you to get some stuff for dinner either now or after school, so here is some money and a list of what to get!" Hearing that she might get a higher paying job i was happy for my mom, so I smile and take the list and money.
Putting the money into the pockets of his shorts and looking over the list and seeing that there is only a handful of items. Thinking it would be better to just do it now then later since i have to start to get ready for school in a few hours anyway. And I can stop by the local video game store on the way back to see if there is any interesting games I haven't spotted before.
Although shane has been helping with the financial problems since he was 16, before that he was what you would call an Otaku! But not a hardcore one, for example if you could rank the otaku by english nobility standards he was a respected earl. But who knows if his dad didn't die he might have ascended to higher ranks.
After looking over the list i looks at his mom and says,"I'll do it now, let me go get dressed and get my stuff and you can drop me off by the store and i will just walk home" Putting the water bottle back into the fridge and then my mom starts to talk to me.
Mom(Leah):"You have one minute, and don't forget a jacket. Winter just started and 5am so its in the mid 40°f!"
Giving a simple nod and an "Alright" I walk back to my room and take the dirty shirt im wearing off and walk to my dresser and find a simple all black shirt and some simple blue jeans. Putting the shirt on and the jeans over my shorts i find some clean socks and getting my shoes and putting them on. I grab a black jacket that has its insides covered in fur and grabbing my backpack and put them on.
I Grab my phone and wallet and walk to the living room where my mom is already walking out of the door and I follow after her. Both of us got in the car and drove off to the store which is on the way to my moms work.
When we arrive there i look over to my mom and say,"Thanks, good luck at work and love you!" I grab my backpack that was by my feet and open the door to get out just as when my mom starts to speak.
Mom(Leah):"Love you to, and be careful!" As soon she finished speaking I got out the car and closed the door and watched her drive away.
Putting the backpack on i start to walk across the parking lot to the store while fishing the list out of my shorts pocket that i was wearing under my jeans. By the time I got the list i was already in front of the store.
While walking into the store a mother and her daughter are behind me, the mother looks to be in her middle ages and the daughter looks to be 8-10 years old running round the mother and the shopping cart.
Smiling at that I go about my business and start looking for the items and it didn't even take 20 minutes to find everything! So with everything in hand I started walking to the cashiers to pay for everything!
On my way to the cahiers a message came over the loudspeaker saying, "Will Madison Martin please head to the front of the store. I repeat will Madison Martin head to the front of the store" Thinking to myself that some kid got separated from their parents and got lost in the aisles and the parents panicked.
Since it 5 in the morning, not a lot of people are shopping so there are only about a dozen customers plus the employes. Right now i'm about in the middle of the store heading to the front when i here this muffled cry in the aisle to my right!
When I heard that i kinda froze, i mean an announcement was made that was most likely about a lost child and then i hear a muffled cry! That can't be a coincidence, put the items on the floor slowly and quietly and head to the end of the aisle and peak around the corner.
What I see is a man facing my direction covering a child's mouth while trying to restrain her, i look at the little girl and notice that its the same kid that was behind me when i walked into the store!
Because the man was to busy trying to control the little girl he didnt notice me so i try sneaking up on him but before I could go a few steps the kid noticed me and started struggling even more and yelling for me!
Thinking,'Shit!' I start running at him full speed but the guy noticed me just a second after the kid did! He looks at me and starts to panic, freeing one hand he reaches to his waistband and pulls out a gun!
But by the time he did all that i was already tackled him to the ground and fell to the ground on top of him trying to wrestle the gun away from him! When I tackled him the little girl was freed and started to scream hysterically while running and tripping away from us!
After a few seconds the man yells,"GET OFF ME!" "BANG!!"Just after he said that a gunshot went off and I was hit in the gut but i barely registered it because of the adrenaline but the man was apparently shocked and I took that opportunity to turn the gun around and shot him in the face twice!
"BANG BANG!!"
When it was over I rolled off him and laid down an arms length from him absent minded for a second or two. But because the adrenaline was wearing off the pain was getting much worse by the second!
Snapping out of it i start crawling over to the shelfs and resting by back against it I slowly take off my take my jacket off while clenching my teeth from the pain. After getting it off i look at the wound and see its just pouring out blood!
Looking up and closing my eyes for a couple seconds while taking a handful of shaky deep breaths and start thinking, 'Be Calm and Think, Be Calm and Think!' Looking back down and covering the wound with my jacket I try to feel my back to see if i the bullet went through me!
Unfortunately there was no exit wound so the bullet is doing who knows what in my body right now! The little girl ran off a while ago so she probably informing the people there about what happened here and are calling the police but just to be sure I grabbed my phone to call the police too and put it on speaker.
911:"911,What's your emer-" Before she can finish I interrupted her.
Shane: "I have been shot in the gut at XXXX store right off xxxxxx road, I have applied pressure to the wound but you need to send ambulances right now I think I'm losing conscious"
911: "Good, Keep that pressure and try to stay awake the ambulances are only 1 minute away! To help you stay awake I will ask you some questions, how old are you?"
Shaking my head to stay awake I take a couple of seconds to respond, " I'm 18"
911: "When were you born"
By now I'm starting to fight to keep my eyes open, but I still answer but slower, "December 25, 2000"
911: "So your birthday is exactly a month away and on Christmas"
911: "Why-" Before she could finish her sentence I passed out but not before seeing a handful of people that are running towards me that look like paramedics!
