Bab 238: Chapter 238: OF GOD, AND OF THE DEVIL

Martha continued to breathe heavily,

Uncertain of how it would play.

The place barely had any exits,

But it still felt cold anyway.

She brushed her hair from her face,

Since it felt too bothersome and is on the way.

But that little action felt like a mistake,

When she swore she saw something fast move

away from her gaze.

She tried to look for it,

But as hard as she tried to navigate,

The darkness of the route was too much.

If it doesn't move,

It wouldn't be noticed,

"It was that fast."

She looked at the women behind her,

Who all suddenly started crying.

But because she couldn't see their faces very well,

She dismissed everything.

And instead continued, telling herself,

"Good, they're still following."

She used her hands to see if someone was approaching,

But to her joy, her fingers hadn't felt anything.

It was only the cold room, that bites her fingertips,

Which was such, a big relief.

They decided to cross by the window instead,

Than risk being mawled by Azazel's demons, or even he, himself.

It was hard though, since the hallway was quite a stretch,

And because of the lack of guards,

it wasn't properly lit as well.

She took note of what the slaves once said,

Some doors, to Lucifer's hounds, led.

She must choose the door with white paint,

If ever they wanted to successfully escape.

It wouldn't be too easy even if they did.

The demons may be alarmed, when they hear the window screech.

More so, what if they're aware of the mission already?

Martha couldn't help but overthink.

She felt her heart race faster,

But tried to shrug it off, for the sake of the rescues.

"Calm down. Calm down. Calm down."

She tried to convice herself,

But her nervousness won.

She bit her lips to distract herself from the thought,

Trying to slam into her head, that she needs to stay focused.

But she suddenly felt a movement distrupt the silence,

When she swore she felt something,

walk by pass them.

Every step felt like torment to Martha's chest.

For she doesn't know, what to them, really awaits.

She sighed, and kept going, trying to find the right door.

But she felt something odd, brush to her shoulder.

It was as if it was mocking her to look,

To stop moving forward, and just...look.

She felt her mouth shudder, and her fingers turn cold,

When she quietly ponder,

What she was about to do.

She felt an urge...a need to look back,

And she did...

And it was quite a surprise.

She saw that the figures had stopped following her tracks.

The slaves had not took another step when their gazes met,

And that was when Martha, felt a deep dread.

Her mouth opened wide,

As she began mentally counting the slaves,

They weren't that many, she notes,

So why were there more?

She held her sword tightly,

As she wonder which of them is the enemy.

After all, their sillhouettes was all she could see.

And knowing well of the danger she's on,

It was hard to keep holding firmly.

Her legs shook as she saw some figures moving forward,

And knowing that the slaves could not help themselves,

She had no choice but to use her trump card.

...

Samael ran towards Stacy as the archangels fight off their respective enemies.

His face quickly soured however,

Seeing that an angel was guarding his place-to-be.

Dawn had no intention on backing out,

Even if he was meant to fight alone.

And Samael felt no threat coming from his opponent,

Believing he wasn't really powerful.

A single angel, cannot be stronger than him for sure,

It's what plays in his head as he created fire,

excited to see the angel burn.

Stacy's eyes lit in fear as she witnessed the young angel's wit.

She tried to struggle and move, but was never freed from Asmo's chains.

She cursed under her breath,

Her body could not be of help.

And the power she acquired from Satan was barely enjoyed,

Since her body was not capable at all.

She bitterly looked at the two men, about to fight.

But before Dawn could speak another word, she cried.

"Samael! Just leave me! Leave me behind!

This angel isn't the ordinary type!

If you get wounded and he gets a touch!

You'll be sure to die!"

Dawn looked at Stacy with burning eyes,

Feeling extreme annoyance, for the very first time.

He quickly turned to violence, when his ability was exposed,

Cutting the woman's tongue, since she was beside him, close.

Samael's jaw dropped at the angel's brutality,

He wasn't...that kind and holy.

The angel seemed to have no sort of mercy,

Not thinking twice of punishing what he deemed as an enemy.

Dawn smiled at Samael's confusion.

Using Stacy as a bait was really an advantage to his situation.

He laughed mentally at the friendship the demons forged,

Now he knows why Lucifer does not value those sorts.

It was pathetic to look at, really.

It covered their judgement, greatly.

But Dawn, was never really sorry,

If Samael was truly more powerful,

Then he has to be brainy.

First, by cracking the first impression of Samael-

By making his image terrifying, despite looking like a gentle angel,

By making the picture of horror clear to the demon's head,

He'd be overly cautious, nervous, oh the dangers of being afraid.

Dawn summons the trident he copied from Jegudiel,

Not exactly as powerful, but serves the same deal.

He summoned water, even with no hole in sight,

Making Samael believe, what Stacy had warned beforehand.

It was no doubt by then,

He was Leviathan's son.

"So you're a devil as well,"

Samael said.

But the classification did not sit well,

With the sin-hating angel.

"No. We greatly vary from one another.

I am a beloved being, and you are a monster.

I am of God, and you are of the Devil.

I will serve for justice and love, as you, with your evil will perish.

Do not compare me to my father,

I am not that selfish."

Samael was now sure that this young angel had no fear.

He was even the one to flinch.

It was unnerving hearing a kind looking face say it,

It seemed like a joke, but the angel surely wasn't.

His eyes looked at him with sharpness, he couldn't describe well.

As if poking him already, he cannot really tell.

It made no sense to him, he was just a kid.

But he wasn't thinking as one,

Only focused on how he'd win.

He puts the thoughts away,

Looking momentarily at Stacy's face.

Her mouth was still bleeding,

Face apologetic, for barely helping.

He sighed and ran towards the angel,

Motivated to save his friend.

But the angel's water was powerful and could turn hard,

Which is expected, since he was a demon and angel combined.

He had a confusing combination of attacks,

And Samael was put to more advantage since the kid was fast.

He was lighter, and moved fluently like water,

Both able to protect himself, while harming the other.

Samael continued to attack the angel,

Noting to himself that once he gets close, he's dead.

And while pushing the angel away seemed to be no problem,

He noticed that the water on his feet, turned to ice in one moment.

The sudden technique caused him to injure himself.

Making his opponent smile at the knowledge.

So...the angel had been planning not to directly open his skin?

That was the point, Samael accepted he's worthy.

He felt immeasurable discomfort walking with injured feet,

But seeing that the angel had no plan stopping-

he had to harm him in turn at least.

Before he could decide however,

He felt a sudden surge of power.

And before he knows it,

Stacy had gave up Satan's ability,

In hopes to save him.

Samael saw Stacy losing her strength on the side,

Holding her hand in the air as she finished the act.

Now that the passing was complete she lost conciousness,

Hoping and hoping,

that his friend wouldn't fail.

Samael had never saw flames burn that brightly,

Nor had he ever felt his heart beat that rapidly.

And though the pain in his soles were not eased,

Knowing he became powerful, made him ignore it for a bit.

"Bring it on, kid," Samael said teasingly,

As he mentally thanks Stacy's help.

But since Dawn's patience and chill ran out,

He made no hesitation, to put Stacy's life to end.

Keeping her alive was a mistake after all,

She didn't became an advantage, but a discomfort, which sucks.

He blamed himself for the miscalculation,

And even without the archangel's guidance,

He knew he should have killed her.

And so, now that she proved to be a nuisance and nothing more,

He quickly chopped of her head,

with one swift motion.

Stacy wasn't even aware,

That she wouldn't wake up anymore.

What was left before that was a heavy heart,

Seeing his friend's head rolling, devoid of life.

And as he stares at the dead friend of his,

The angel couldn't help, but smile at his misery.

Noticing his own behaviour however,

Dawn felt quite alarmed.

Is it what his own mother was so afraid of?

Is he conciously wanting to harm?

He shrugged the thought of for a moment,

Justifying his actions since he was an angel.

And an angel should feign indifference to enemies,

So killing Stacy,

Was not forbidden on his page.

"I am of God. You are of the Devil.

You are meant to suffer,

And we...are meant to win."

Samael moved forward with no hesitation,

Blinded by his want to kill.

While the angel continued to wait for the demon,

Anticipating the time his head drops the same.
