Bab 264: Too Much Gap

The heat emanating from his body soared higher as I braced myself, summoning Aegis Projections to shield against the attack. The air around us shimmered with intense heat waves as his flame descended.

"You're going to pay for what you did to her!" His eyes were filled with hatred, glowing like the flames around him. It seemed that his flames grew stronger the more emotional he was.

Well, it would be weirder if he didn't react after his beloved girlfriend exploded like a balloon. I mean, that scene must have left some serious trauma. Talk about a relationship that went bust, literally.

I smirked back, flames reflecting in my eyes too. 

"Pay? Oh, I only take things. 'Paying' isn't even in my vocabulary," I said, injecting a bit of humor into my insult. 

It was quite satisfying to see him suffer, especially after realizing that his attack wasn't even enough to stop me from making fun of him. That's just how wide the gap between us was.
