Uchiha Madara was not inherently a bad person, but his life experiences had made him overly sensitive and distrustful.
He had finally found a true friend in Hashirama, only to discover that they were from rival clans. Then his brother was killed by Hashirama's brother. He was later betrayed by his own clan, and ultimately, he "died" at the hands of his best friend.
Now, Reiki was telling him that his most trusted companion, the so-called incarnation of his will—Black Zetsu—was actually hostile to him?
Since awakening the Rinnegan, Black Zetsu had been Madara's most trusted ally. Emotionally, Madara struggled to accept the idea of yet another betrayal.
---
"Incarnation of will, you say?" Madara mused, his voice steady but sharp. "If Black Zetsu claims to be my will incarnate, then…"
"Then you should be able to sense his thoughts as your own," Reiki interjected with a calm smile.
The idea was simple yet devastatingly effective. If Black Zetsu truly embodied Madara's will, there should be no separation between their consciousnesses.
Madara fell silent, pondering Reiki's words. He realized that he had never once attempted to connect with Black Zetsu's mind. When Black Zetsu had appeared, it had coincided perfectly with the awakening of the Rinnegan and the revelation of the stone tablet. Madara, caught up in his newfound power, had accepted Black Zetsu's presence without question.
Now, doubt began to creep into Madara's mind.
---
Reiki continued, "Madara-sama, your Moon Eye Plan requires the power of the tailed beasts and the Rinnegan. But have you ever wondered—what happens to humanity after Infinite Tsukuyomi? A world where everyone is trapped in an endless dream… what future does that leave for mankind?"
Madara's stoic expression faltered. Reiki's words struck at the heart of the dream Madara had for a world free of pain and conflict.
"Humankind… would cease to exist," Reiki concluded.
Madara clenched his fists as the weight of realization settled over him. Black Zetsu had been the one guiding him toward this path, and now the cracks in the plan were becoming clear.
What if the stone tablet itself had been altered? What if Black Zetsu's motives were not aligned with his own?
The thought sent a chill through Madara, and he fell into deep contemplation.
---
Outside the barrier, Black Zetsu was growing uneasy. Something didn't feel right. Orochimaru, meanwhile, remained calm, his gaze fixed on Black Zetsu with a glint of scientific curiosity.
To Orochimaru, Black Zetsu represented an anomaly—a life form worth dissecting and studying.
The two waited in silence until the barrier finally disappeared, revealing Reiki and Madara standing side by side.
---
"Madara-sama, you…" Black Zetsu began, his tone careful.
"Black Zetsu," Madara interrupted coldly. "I need to confirm something. Look into my eyes!"
Madara activated his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, and the immense force of his gaze distorted the very air around them. Even Reiki and Orochimaru felt the overwhelming pressure, their minds briefly clouded by dizziness.
When Madara deactivated his Sharingan moments later, his expression was grim. He turned to Black Zetsu with a deep sense of disappointment.
"Let's step outside," Madara said, his voice carrying a hint of sadness. "I haven't felt the warmth of the sun in a long time."
Reiki's lips curled into a small smile. This was their agreed-upon signal. Madara had determined that Black Zetsu was not what he claimed to be.
---
Once outside, the morning sun cast a soft glow over the scene. Madara stood silently for a moment, staring at the sky before turning to Black Zetsu.
"Black Zetsu, tell me the truth. Why?" Madara asked, his voice steady but filled with restrained anger.
"Madara-sama, I don't understand—"
*Boom!*
Before Black Zetsu could finish, Madara's fist connected with his body, slamming him into the ground with incredible force.
"I truly hoped you were the incarnation of my will," Madara said, his voice laced with regret. "But you are not!"
---
Black Zetsu lay motionless, unable to move. Though he had existed for centuries, his strength was no match for Madara, especially in his current state—enhanced by senjutsu and the integration of Hashirama's cells.
Orochimaru, watching the scene unfold, turned to Reiki with curiosity. "What just happened?"
Reiki replied calmly, "Black Zetsu is not the incarnation of Madara-sama's will. He's been manipulating Madara-sama for his own purposes."
Orochimaru's eyes widened as he processed the revelation. His shock quickly turned to excitement. "So… does that mean I can experiment on him?"
Reiki sighed, knowing exactly where Orochimaru's mind had gone. "Do as you like," he said dismissively.
Orochimaru's grin widened. For him, Black Zetsu wasn't a traitor or a villain—he was a rare specimen waiting to be studied.
---
Meanwhile, Madara stood over Black Zetsu, his disappointment palpable. Though the truth hurt, Madara's resolve had not faltered. The betrayal only strengthened his determination to uncover the full truth behind the stone tablet and to forge a path that aligned with his own ideals—not someone else's manipulations.
Reiki, satisfied that Madara had seen through Black Zetsu, prepared for what would come next. The game had shifted, and the stakes were higher than ever.
