Bab 40: Chapter-40
Sasuke told Naruto to proceed to arena, he has to make some preparation. He also told him if he is not there by the time of his match then tell them to proceed with other matches, he will be back as soon as possible. He instructed Karin to stay in Uchiha compound with Kushina, although Karin wanted to watch the final round of chunin exam but Sasuke insisted that she stays in Uchiha compound, so she understood it is better for her to stay.
Everyone arrived at the arena, Hokage and Kazekage were also present. Among the participants, exept for Sasuke and Dosu, everyone else was present. Naruto informed that Sasuke will be late and representative of sound village told them that Dosu is not going to participate in final round. Many nobles and high position people of fire country came to watch the performance of the last survivor of prestigious Uchiha clan. That is why even if Sasuke is late, he will not get disqualified.
Hayate Gekko died while Sasuke was in Uzumaki temple so Genma Shiranui became the proctor of final round of chunin exam. He calls out the names of Naruto and Neji for the first match. The overbearing personality of Neji has changed, Rock Lee surpassing him was a huge blow for him. After his father's death he started to believe that everyone is born with their destiny and nothing can change it. But Rock Lee, who was a civilian boy with no background and no talent in ninjutsu or genjutsu at all, beat him, it shook his world and shatter his beliefs. Although Neji still hates Hyuga main branch but he stopped talking nonsense about destiny.
Neji took his fighting stance and waited for the proctor to say start. Naruto also took his fighting stance, he also did not say anything, he just focus on defeating his opponent. Naruto forgot that he was angry at Neji for what he did to Hinata in the prelimanaries. Naruto has been spending a lot of time with Kushina, this made him become a happy person. When Sasuke was learning jutsu taught by Jiraya faster than him, he was very annoyed but few words from Kushina and he forgot all that and just focus on doing his best instead of competing with Sasuke. He actually forgot how badly he wanted to beat Neji a month ago.
Naruto was also ready for the fight and waiting for proctor to say start. The moment fight started, Naruto used his signature move, shadow clone jutsu. He formed nine clones and attack Neji. It was a ten on one fight and the standard of Naruto's taijutsu was also very high. He was still far from Sasuke's standard but with help of nine shadow clone he was able to overwhelm Neji. Audience were in awe, they never thought that Hyuga clan genius would be at a disadvantage against the nine tails kid. Classmates of Naruto were also surprised, although Naruto wiped the floor with Kiba during the preliminaries but Neji was top student of his batch last year, they expected him to at least have the equal footing if not the advantage against Naruto. Sakura was not surprised, she was Naruto's teammate so she had seen his growth. Rock Lee was also not very surprised, he spars with Naruto very often and he knows how annoying it is to deal with Naruto's shadow clones.
10 on 1 fight was getting very difficult for Neji, and the coordination between the shadow clones was giving him headache. After fighting for sometime he only manage to destroy three shadow clones. Naruto was taught by both Kakashi and Jiraya but the greatest improvement he experienced is because of Sasuke. He has been friends with Sasuke long before formation of team 7 and training together since then. He constantly compete with Sasuke, this lead to him being much better at taijutsu. He also got the idea of using shadow clone when creating rasengan, if not for that it would take him a long time to learn this jutsu.
Facing the difficult situation, Neji decided to use his final trump card 'eight trigrams palm revolving heaven'. Rest of the shadow clones of Naruto vanished and Naruto also was forced back few meters after taking a hit. Naruto knew that fight was not going to be easy, he learned two new jutsu in this month, one was summoning jutsu and other was rasengan. Naruto has enough control over summoning jutsu that he can summon Gamabunta at will, but he did that now then the person Gamabunta beat up would be Naruto. He knew Gamabunta personality and calling him to deal with a genin would make him very mad. So Naruto decided it was time to use rasengan.
Naruto again use the hand sign for shadow clone jutsu and six shadow clones appeared. Naruto sent five shadow clones to engage with Neji while he and the last shadow clone started to work on the rasengan. With five shadow clone attacking Neji, Naruto has enough time to create rasengan and he proceeded to hit him with it. Neji felt extreme danger when he saw Naruto coming at him with a high speed rotating sphere of chakra. People watching the arena were shocked after watching Naruto's performance, and every ninja watching the match can feel the danger from rasengan and the thing that surprised them most is lack of hand sign for such a powerful jutsu. Kakashi and third Hokage were also very surprised, they knew the rank and the origin of rasengan. They can understand that Jiraya taught Naruto the rasengan, but learning it in a month time was surprising.
Feeling the danger from Naruto, Neji again used 'eight trigrams palm revolving heaven'. Naruto and Neji's jutsus clashed, as a result Neji was able to defend himself with his jutsu but the rasengan got deflected and hit the ground resulting in large crater. Naruto was surprised that his A-rank jutsu got blocked but he didn't seem worried.
NARUTO: "Defensive power of your jutsu is amazing, lets see how many times you can stop me."
After that Naruto use his hand sign and created ten shadow clones. Five pairs of shadow clone start creating rasengan to attack Neji. Sasuke always told Naruto that he has very large amount of chakra even greater than the Hokage so use it wisely. He knew Neji's jutsu must cost a lot of chakra so he decided to keep attacking him until he collapses.
