Bab 67: 67. 1 vs 7
Pissed by Zoro's provocations and insults, the 7 swordsmen become much more determined to kill him now. They don't care about Mizukage's order anymore. If Zoro dies, they will just tell Mizukage that he refuses and resists so much that they don't have any choice but to kill him.
Now the first one to make the move is the guy with the explosive sword. He swings his big sword sideways and detonates the paper bombs on his sword before it even touches Zoro's swords.
The explosions are very big and they actually push Zoro back, or more like forcing him to jump a few meters to the back because he wants to avoid the explosions.
But the guy with Kubikiribocho has waited there and he immediately attacks Zoro with a vertical slash from above. Zoro simply blocks it with Sandai Kitetsu in his left hand before he pushes the big sword back.
"How's he so strong?!" Kubikiribocho's wielder asks in disbelief as he gets pushed back.
Zoro has pushed one back, but he can't relax at all because 4 are coming at him together from 4 different sides now.
Kabutowari the axe and hammer from the front, Nuibari the big needle sword from the left, Hiramekarei the transforming sword that is formed into a very long chakra sword from the right, and Samehada from behind.
Then, even a very powerful lightning bolt created by Kiba the lightning sword is coming from above. Raiga summons a natural lightning bolt from the sky to attack Zoro.
But Zoro stays calm and he lines up his swords horizontally. He pumps more Haki into his swords, especially Enma to create a stronger attack.
"Three Sword Style: Reverse Great Dragon Twister!"
Zoro spins his body, creating a massive blade tornado. But unlike the usual Dragon Twister that looks exactly like a tornado with a small bottom and wide top, this Dragon Twister has a closed top and wide bottom, making it look like a spinning dome instead of a tornado.
He creates it like this to block all the attacks including the lightning bolt coming from the sky. The lightning will pass through and hit him if he shapes his technique like a normal tornado, after all.
The rotating blade dome succeeds in blocking all the incoming attacks. It even repels the lightning, making it spread around the blade dome and force the swordsmen to retreat to avoid the spreading lightning.
A big horizontal energy blade suddenly comes out of the rotating blade dome. It passes through between the rotating energy blades and flies toward the masked guy who uses the big needle sword.
He ducks to avoid it instead of blocking it. So the energy blade keeps flying and cuts a lot of trees behind him. The swordsmen are surprised by the power of that energy blade.
Zoro continues his attack. He breaks the rotating blade dome and charges at the short guy who uses Kabutowari, the axe and hammer.
The man raises his axe and swings it down at Zoro when they get very close to each other. Zoro blocks it with Wado Ichimonji in his mouth before slashing the other 2 swords at his opponent's body.
The guy clicks his mouth while blocking the 2 swords with the hammer. He manages to block Zoro's attacks but he is sent flying far to the back because Zoro's attacks are powerful.
Zoro wants to chase the guy, but someone is coming to attack him, so he moves to block the attack that comes to him.
He blocks the incoming attack by crossing his swords, but then a very big explosion happens because the one who attacks him is the user of the explosive sword.
The man grins, but then his eyes widen when a sword is slashing toward his face. He drops his head backwards and the sword barely passes above his nose.
But then, another sword comes down from above toward him. It's difficult for him to avoid it with his position. Luckily for him, someone comes to help him.
Zoro's 2nd sword that comes down and almost hits his target is blocked by a wide sword. It's blocked by Kubikiribocho, so the explosive sword, Shibuki's user is safe.
Shibuki's user even manages to quickly make an attack. He swings his explosive sword at Zoro from the side and the explosion pushes Zoro a few meters to the back.
The ninja grins, but it stiffens when he sees Zoro is uninjured. No one has ever took his explosion attacks head on without a scratch before. So it surprises all of the 7 swordsmen.
They keep attacking Zoro with various attack combinations and Zoro is taking all of them without backing off now.
He fully utilizes his Observation Haki to sense all of their attacks. With his speed and strength, he can take all of their attacks without being overwhelmed even though their attacks are very strong.
Zoro doesn't attack actively and keeps being defensive. He is very interested in his opponents' fighting styles, so he wants to observe more and try to see if he can learn a few things from them.
Although their fighting styles heavily rely on their mystical swords' unique abilities, Zoro still can see a few things that inspire him. So he becomes defensive to let them use their skills so he can learn.
Besides, this is his chance to polish his new swordsmanship style when fighting strong opponents. They are skilled ninjas and some of them are really fast, so they are perfect opponents for him
Their attacks are also getting stronger as they get very serious and start working together. They realize they can't take Zoro lightly and it will be very difficult to defeat him alone.
Zoro becomes even more excited as the fight goes on. He is someone who enjoys being pressured in battles because it helps him grow faster than normal training.
Right now, the pressure he gets from the 7 Swordsmen of Mist is getting stronger and stronger. They are also getting better at attacking him as the fight goes on.
Because Zoro deliberately prolonged the fight, his opponents have more time to learn about his skills. Also, they are now being careful with their attacks and they use a lot of different strategies they've made after working together for years.
They manage to injure Zoro a few times, but none of them are fatal. Some of their attacks manage to slip through Zoro's defense, but he always manages to move away at the last moment, so their attacks only scratch him.
It makes them quite frustrated as they wonder if Zoro can see all of their attacks. They are very curious about how he does it because he doesn't have dojutsu like Sharingan or Byakugan that can help their users see attacks.
Well, Zoro's Observation Haki isn't losing to those 2 Great Dojutsu when it comes to "seeing" attacks. With his Observation Haki, Zoro can sense every attack even if they are sneak attacks or if they are very fast.
Though it can't help him predict what jutsu or techniques they will use. He hasn't reached the level of being able to see the future with his Observation Haki, so he can only sense others' presence and their intentions to attack him.
He can sense where those attacks will be aimed at, but he can sense what kind of attacks those will be with his Observation Haki. He can't predict their jutsu, so he needs to observe them with his eyes and respond appropriately.
Zoro keeps fighting them with his Haki and swordsmanship. He doesn't use his chakra at all to enhance his swordsmanship skills because of Samehada. That sword can eat his chakra, so using it will be useless.
Thankfully, he never relies on chakra and uses physical power for almost all of his skills. Unlike the shinobi, chakra is only a supplementary power for him as his main source of power is physical power and spirit for his Haki.
So even without being able to use chakra, he won't be in a problem as long as he isn't tired physically yet. Though getting his chakra drained will still be a problem because it will affect his body as well.
That's why he keeps avoiding being touched by Samehada even if it makes him get hit by other swords. He can't let Samehada eat his chakra even if it's just a little because he doesn't have that much chakra to begin with, so the effect will be quite bad.
But then, he falls into a trap that the 7 Swordsmen made after observing his fighting style since they started fighting.
