Bab 5: Damsel in distress
I stood atop a tree overlooking the three men and the tied up girl.
'They're weak..' I thought. At most they are high level chunin. It was not a good sign. It meant that the leader of this mission was probably not with them.
I took a kunai out of my pocket. I gently tossed it towards the guy who was farthest away from Kushina.
Seeing something coming his way he took a stance, but realising it was just a poorly thrown kunai.. perhaps wanting to show off or perhaps it was subconscious he grabbed it mid air.
"How stupid." I muttered as I activated the seal that was wrapped around the kunai handle.
When the man noticed something was wrong, it was already too late.
*Bang* The kunai exploded in his hand. It was not too big of an explosion but was enough to blow his right hand off.
"AHHH…" He cried in pain. I took advantage of this by throwing another kunai, this time with full force at him.
The kunai passed through his open mouth and stabbed straight inside his throat. His screaming stopped as he struggled to remove the kunai with his hand.
It was impossible.. He fell on his knees and after a brief hard struggle, he choked on his own blood and stopped moving.
The two other people with him were horrified. Thankfully Kushina was blindfolded.
The other two weren't so dumb as they immediately defended themselves around Kushina.
Before I could break through them another man appeared. The man was stronger than all three of them combined.
Failing to sense my location, he instead opted for a different route. He took out the tanto he was carrying and placed it on Kushina's throat.
"Show yourself or the girl dies." He shouted.
"That's.. stupid." I muttered again.
For a shinobi the most important thing was the mission. Their mission was to catch the jinchuriki so killing her was just failing the mission in the worst way.
I sensed someone else coming this way. He seemed to sense it too. "Excellent." I smiled.
I threw another kunai at the man. He quickly deflected it with his tanto. I jumped out of the tree and showed myself.
"A kid?" He narrowed his eyes. "Yep." I said. "A cute little kid."
"Ha..hahahahahaha that moron got killed by a kid." The man in question laughed.
"My.. whatever shall I do? I am so scared of the grandpa in front of me." I sarcastically remarked.
"Heh. You have a death wish don't ya?" He pointed his tanto at me. Though he wasn't dumb enough to leave his escort.
"Since you willingly jumped to your own death I shall reward you with a quick one."
He dashed towards me. Yeah, I take back the thing about being not dumb. As soon as he was out of range. A blonde haired boy emerged out of the nearby trees.
The other two who were guarding the girl were surprised as the boy grabbed the girl and ran. The two chunins were stunned for a moment before rushing towards the boy to catch him.
The man in front of me clicked his tongue as he watched that happen. "So.. you were not alone huh?"
"Whatever. I will finish him off after I'm done with you." He dashed towards me again.
In terms of pure speed and strength he was better than me. He also seemed good with that sword of his. But..
He was not a jonin. Therefore I am better. Was it an arrogant assumption? Maybe but it was true. He was inexperienced and hasty. Also.. he underestimates me.
Taking advantage of that fact, I swiftly threw a kunai towards him. He tried to deflect it but I activated the seal as soon as the sword touched the kunai.
It didn't do any damage but it did slow him down and blocked his vision for a while. Which gave me the time to create a significant distance between us.
After the dust settled down he charged towards me like a raging bull ready to destroy anything in his path.
The occasional shurikens and kunai that I was throwing did not slow him down much either.
"Stop resisting and accept your fate like a real shinobi." He shouted.
"You know what? I will do just that." I said as I turned around and charged towards him. He was surprised but smiled.
I took the last remaining kunai from my pocket and used it as a knife to fight the man… or at least make it seem like I was about to fight the man.
He swung his sword downwards. I dodged it by backing off but he was now within a hair's breadth away from me.
He had a sadistic smile as he was ready to decapitate me clean off. Seeing the incoming fatal attack. My fave had a smile on my face.
"You got Duped!" I smiled. His sword cut through my neck and instead of a gush of blood that he was expecting, my body turned into a puff of smoke.
*Chi* He heard the sound of lightning cracking from behind him.
I readied myself. It was nostalgic. The lightning in my hands had taken me through so much in my previous life. Now.. perhaps I was going to have something much better. I was not someone who would stick to an inefficient tool for an emotional attachment but that doesn't mean I didn't have an emotional attachment to this thing.
So for maybe the last time. I clenched my fist tightly. *Bang* I dashed towards him. The mass of destructive lightning illuminated the dark surroundings.
The man tried to move away but it was at this time he noticed his body was tied by a chakra string. It was not strong enough to hold him in place but was strong enough that he wouldn't get out of the way in time.
That genjutsu was useful after all. He didn't even notice that I was setting up a chakra web this whole time.
My fist covered with lightning pierced his chest as the warm blood soaked my sleeves. And I spoke a word that described it all, "Chidori"
*Puh* He vomited blood as his body hung in my arm. As I removed my hand from the gaping hole in his chest, His body fell into the ground.
*Few* I sighed a breath of relief as I confirmed his death. I fell onto my back as my body was weakened from chakra exhaustion.
I activated three seals, used shadow clone jutsu and chidori. My body was not meant to handle that much chakra so I was extremely weak right now.
I felt someone approaching in my direction. "Dammit are they reinforcements?" I stood up. Ignoring my body that hurt like hell.
They were not reinforcements. I saw an anbu. In their signature clothes and mask.
~~ Anbu's POV ~~
When I noticed the disappearance of the jinchuriki. I panicked. It was my responsibility to guard her and they took advantage of my brief absence and abducted her.
I was called by lord third. To give a report to him. Though it turns out that it was a misunderstood command.
I immediately returned and found out that the Jinchuriki had gone missing. It was deliberate. Someone deliberately set up this plan and I was careless to fall into it.
I rushed to the surroundings searching every corner to find her and the people who had abducted her.
I found her soon enough, there was a boy with the girl. The boy fought on equal ground with two chunins. I recognised him as the genius that was talked about.
Quickly dispatching the two chunins I wanted to ask him what had happened and instead of answering me, he requested me to save his friend who had distracted the strongest one of the abductors.
I quickly rushed towards the location he told me. I followed a trail of kunai and finally found them. I was prepared for the worst but..
The scene was the exact opposite of what I had imagined. The enemy was on the ground with a gaping hole in his chest, surely dead.
While a chakra exhausted boy sat next to him. His right sleeve or what remained of it; covered in blood.
