As previously described, geographically, the Land of Rain is located in the gap between the three major countries of the Land of Fire, the Land of Earth, and the Land of Wind. It is a natural crossroads and therefore a battleground for the Four Great Shinobi Countries.
Adding to that, the Land of Rain also has a super strong individual who always wants to make a big splash in the shinobi world, the leader of Amegakure, the so-called demigod, Hanzō.
So, it's easy to imagine the turmoil the Land of Rain experienced during the Second and Third Shinobi World Wars.
Yahiko, Konan, and Nagato were orphans born in the Land of Rain during the Second Shinobi World War.
There were countless orphans like them in the Land of Rain, but only a very small number survived the war.
In this sense, the three were lucky.
When they were young, they witnessed the battle between the young Konoha Sannin and the demigod Hanzō, and by chance, they became Jiraiya's students.
Jiraiya felt deeply guilty that it was ninjas like himself who created these orphans. Out of remorse, he resolved to guide the three of them to grow up until they could protect themselves.
But as they spent more time together, especially after Jiraiya saw Nagato's eyes, he recognized him as the prophesied child foretold by the Great Toad Sage.
So, his expectations were no longer simply for the three of them to survive. He hoped they could bring about change to the shinobi world and find a way to achieve peace.
Because of this, Jiraiya disappeared from the raging battlefield of the Second Shinobi World War for three whole years. He only returned to Konoha and rejoined the war after he believed that the three of them had gained the ability to protect themselves in war.
He truly entrusted his hope for peace to these three Amegakure orphans.
And so far, his three disciples have not disappointed him.
From the Second Shinobi World War to the Third Shinobi World War, Yahiko, Konan, and Nagato grew up one after another, and they fought for the peace of the Land of Rain. For this, they established an organization called Akatsuki and promoted a "non-violent, non-cooperation" approach to peaceful evolution. They helped many ninjas, and Akatsuki attracted many ninjas who hated war and longed for peace.
Akatsuki's goal was to create world peace without relying on extreme force. As time went on, more and more ninjas joined, and Akatsuki gradually grew and became famous.
Even Jiraiya, their teacher, who had never seen them again after their separation, occasionally heard about their deeds.
Of the three orphans, Nagato was naturally the strongest because of his Uzumaki bloodline and the Rinnegan he was given. But if we're talking about the core leader, it was Yahiko.
And Yahiko's Akatsuki was completely different from Nagato's Akatsuki later on. Yahiko's Akatsuki was truly pacifist.
Haori didn't know about the rights and wrongs and various changes in this process. Based on his shallow knowledge of the Naruto plot, these three people were actually a bunch of villainous bosses.
That's why he wanted to arrogantly defeat them in the first place.
But he couldn't make an accurate judgment about the unknown Rinnegan, which made him hesitant to act. In the current situation, perhaps their small four-person team should really consider getting out of there as soon as possible.
Regretting getting involved? Not really. To be honest, Haori rarely regretted the choices he made.

So Pakura wanted to deal with the Amegakure rabble first and then focus on Haori.
It's not surprising that Pakura was a little lacking in knowledge. Although Konan and Nagato's combined jutsu was quite impressive, it wasn't really possible to judge it as a particularly powerful attack method.
It's also understandable that she wouldn't judge them to be particularly high-level ninjas.
So, Pakura, as if she were dealing with those ordinary Amegakure ninjas, confidently attacked the Akatsuki members.
Before attacking, she seemed to glance in Haori's direction.
This time, Haori actually yielded the attack position and became a spectator.
He was happy to do so. Maybe he could take this opportunity to observe Nagato's strength?
So, he kept an eye on the battlefield while carefully controlling the Splitting Dog to move behind him. This way, the four of them would be together, and if anything unexpected happened, they could run away as a group.
Pakura was facing Yahiko, the leader of Akatsuki, head-on.
Without a second thought, she unleashed her jutsu on him:
Scorch Release: Over-Steaming!
Akatsuki was just a young organization. They couldn't have the same intelligence capabilities as a ninja village like Konoha. Yahiko didn't recognize Pakura's identity, so he naturally treated Scorch Release as a regular Fire Release.
He quickly formed hand seals and released a defense jutsu, using the same method as he would to defend against Fire Release.
Water Release: Water Disturbance Wave.
The water wave he spat out rushed towards the orange and white flames. Compared to the water wave, the flames were small and should have been extinguished immediately.
However, something unexpected happened. His Water Release jutsu not only failed to extinguish the enemy's Fire Release, but it was instantly evaporated.
And the Fire Release was now directly facing him!
One wasn't enough, so he tried another.
In terms of attack distance, Yahiko felt that he still had a chance to release a second Water Release jutsu to block it.
But at this time, Nagato made a move.
He didn't speak, but he instantly flashed in front of Yahiko.
Yahiko couldn't use his jutsu anymore. But he had already given up on using it before that. Since Nagato was going to block this strange Fire Release, why should he worry?
No hand seals.
No jutsu.
No bodily movements.
Not even any chakra reaction.
Nagato just stood in front of Yahiko, as if he were going to block the attack with his body.

Because her jutsu disappeared in front of Nagato.
It didn't hit the enemy, but disappeared before it could hit the enemy.
The bodily movement of shielding Yahiko caused Nagato's red hair to sway in front of his forehead.
The surrounding firelight happened to shine through the gap in his hair, illuminating his eerie eyes.
Just being looked at by those emotionless eyes, for some reason, Pakura stopped in her tracks.
