The intense orange chakra surrounding Naruko flickered like a dying flame, its oppressive aura beginning to wane. Her body, despite its rigorous training, was overwhelmed by the immense power of the Nine Tails' chakra. This was her first time tapping into such a dangerous and potent force, and her body had reached its limit.
Naruko's knees buckled as the last remnants of the chakra dissipated into the air, leaving her swaying unsteadily. Her eyes fluttered, exhaustion etched across her face.
'So this… is the Nine Tails' power…' she thought weakly, her vision blurring.
Her body started to collapse, but before she could hit the ground, Yuto appeared behind her using the Body Flicker Jutsu, catching her just in time.
"Got you, Naruko," Yuto murmured. Naruko managed to look up at him with a faint, weary smile. "Yuto… thanks," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
"You did great," he replied. Naruko's eyelids drooped, and she gave a small, almost imperceptible nod before finally succumbing to unconsciousness.
Kakashi and Kakuzu clashed fiercely, the air crackling with tension as the intensity of their battle rose. Kakuzu launched another barrage of thread-like tendrils from his body. He was cornered, having already lost three of his elemental masks. Desperation fueled his attacks now, each strike more brutal than the last.
"I'm not dying here!" Kakuzu growled, unleashing a wave of lightning aimed directly at Kakashi.
Kakashi deftly dodged the attack, countering with a lightning lased kunai strike to sever the threads reaching for him. His Sharingan spun, predicting Kakuzu's movements, but even so, the veteran shinobi's relentless offense kept him on his toes.
Meanwhile, Fuu and Hitomi faced off against the water mask. The mask hovered ominously above the ground, launching water tentacles that lashed out like whips. Fuu darted through the air, narrowly avoiding one of the strikes as she glanced at Naruko, who lay unconscious in Yuto's arms a short distance away.
"So this is the difference in power between the Nine Tails and the Seven Tails," Fuu muttered, her voice tinged with disbelief. She flexed her hands, clenching her fists. "It's not even close…"
Hitomi gritted her teeth as she dodged another water whip, her Sharingan tracking its movements. The mask's attacks were precise and relentless, forcing her to stay on the defensive. But her mind wasn't focused entirely on the battle.
'Naruko…' Hitomi thought bitterly, her chest tightening as she recalled the overwhelming strength Naruko had just displayed. They had always been rivals, their power levels neck-and-neck. Even with her Sharingan, Hitomi had often held the edge. But now? Now the gap felt insurmountable.
'She's left me behind,' Hitomi realized, the thought cutting deep. She clenched her fists tighter, the frustration bubbling inside her. 'How? How do I bridge this gap?'
Unbeknownst to her, the chakra of Indra within her began to stir, reacting to her envy and frustration on Naruko who had Ashura's chakra. The ancient chakra amplified her emotions, feeding into her drive to surpass Naruko. Hitomi's Sharingan suddenly flared, the tomoe within spinning as a second tomoe formed in each eye.
Her vision sharpened, and her body moved instinctively, dodging another water tentacle with newfound precision.
'I won't fall behind!' she roared inwardly, her determination solidifying into an unshakable resolve.
Fuu, noticing the change in Hitomi, glanced at her mid-air. "Hitomi, are you okay?" she called out.
Hitomi's lips curled into a faint smirk as she met Fuu's gaze. "I'm better than ever," she replied.
Yuto carefully lifted Naruko into his arms, holding her in a princess carry, her head rested lightly against his chest.
'She pushed herself too hard,' he thought. 'She's strong, but that much amount of Nine Tails' chakra for her first usage took a toll on her.'
Yuto activated his chakra switch ability and switched places with the marked kunai he had left in Fuu's home.
Yuto gently laid Naruko on a nearby futon, pulling a blanket over her. He knelt beside her, brushing a strand of hair from her face as he observed her resting form.
"Rest for now, Naruko," he murmured. "I will handle the rest."
Not wanting to leave her completely unguarded, Yuto formed a shadow clone. The clone nodded in understanding, taking a meditative position beside Naruko. Satisfied, Yuto switched back with a marked kunai near the battlefield.
Hitomi's hand reached into her pouch as she pulled out two shuriken. She flung them towards the water mask with precision, her hands moving to form a single hand sign. The shuriken hit their marks, embedding themselves into either side of the mask. She smirked, gripping the ninja wire attached to them.
'Now or never,' she thought as chakra surged into her legs. With a powerful burst, she launched herself from the ground like a speeding arrow, heading straight for the mask, using the Body Flicker Jutsu to give her a boost.
The water mask reacted swiftly, conjuring two massive water dragons that spiraled toward her, their roaring forms cutting through the air with deadly intent. Hitomi's eyes widened slightly but soon calmed down because, from the corner of her vision, she saw Fuu and Yuto move to intercept.
Fuu unleashed her Biju's chakra as green chakra appeared around her as she underwent the initial jinchuriki state similar to Naruko. Her irises turned a gleaming yellow, and her right arm shifted, morphing into a thick, grey horn resembling that of a beetle. Her wings expanded and shimmered with a faint silvery glow. A guttural roar escaped her as she leapt forward, slamming her beetle horn into one of the water dragons. "Insect Style:Horn Strike!" She shouted as the horn radiated a silvery powder-like sheen, and with a deafening impact, the dragon shattered into a cascade of water droplets.
Simultaneously, Yuto gathered the swirling forces of solar and poison energy, merging them into an intense purple energy. A brilliant purple glow surrounded him as he called out, "Radiation Release: Radiation Dragon Jutsu!"
The purple energy dragon erupted from his hands, its menacing form radiating destructive power as it clashed against the second water dragon. The two forces collided, and an explosion of energy and water surged across the battlefield. When the dust settled, the water dragon was gone, and the massive thread mass surrounding the water mask lay in tatters.
Hitomi seized the opportunity, releasing the ninja wire mid-flight. She formed her next jutsu, a glowing ball of lightning crackling before her hands. "Lightning Style: Lightning Ball!" she called out, thrusting it toward the mask's head as it shot out of her hand.
The water mask desperately conjured threads to shield itself, but the lightning ball tore through them with an ear-splitting crack. The mask staggered, momentarily exposed. Hitomi didn't waste a second. She surged forward, gripping her kunai tightly, and drove it directly into the mask's core, the heart.
The mask shuddered violently, its energy dissipating in an instant. It slumped lifelessly, its destruction marked by the fading of its remaining threads.
Hitomi landed gracefully, her chest heaving with exertion but her expression triumphant. "I will catch up soon...." she muttered under her breath, her gaze shifting briefly to Fuu and Yuto, before she went uncounciois because of low chakra and the exertion of using her evolved sharingan.
