Bab 3: Chapter 3: Ancestor

Mill stared at the strange man. He had no thoughts in his head and yet his mind was still racing. He couldn't comprehend anything that was happening in front of him.

"Why are you just staring at me like that? Did I say something wrong?" Mill snapped out of his trance with a slight head shake and began to throw questions at the man.

"My ancestor? How? Only people with special bloodlines and high blood purity levels even have the chance to meet their ancestor. Does this mean that I do have a bloodline? If so why wasn't it recognized?" This was making no since to Mill. Just yesterday he was told during the Heroite that he didn't have a special bloodline but this guy was claiming to be his ancestor.

"What in the world are you talking about kid?"

Pierce? Pierce Hoodwagon? Mill had never heard a single story about a man with that name in his life. He may not have paid much attention in most classes but history was a topic that fascinated the boy from a very young age so he knew most of the history of the world and even the most unknown hero stories. Yet he couldn't remember even a single story that spoke of a Pierce Hoodwagon.

"Hey...ancestor."

"Yes, Mill?"

"Just who are you?" Pierce didn't understand the question that Mill had just asked him.

"I am Pierce Hoodwagon and I am your-"

"No, that's not what I'm asking. I'm asking you who you are. What importance did you have in history? I've read all sorts of stories with my aunt but so I know most of the worlds popular and unpopular adventurers. But not you." Mill pressed for information. Every aspect of this situation was strange.

Not only was his bloodline not on record, but he had also been told that he was the descendent of a random person that he had never heard of. He already knew this was a dream it was just getting more unbelievable the more he talked to Pierce.

"What do you mean you've never heard of me? Don't you know Kinteth Yenders?" Mill did know Kinteth Yenders. In fact, it would be more surprising to find someone that didn't know him seeing as he is the first recorded legendary hero. Even today the Yenders bloodline is one of the most well known and powerful bloodlines regardless of blood purity.

"Of course I do, but how does that relate to me knowing you?" Mill didn't understand what Pierce was trying to hint at.

"Then you should know me. I was a part of Kinteth Yenders' party." Mill looked at Pierce like he was a madman. At this point he was certain that Pierce was crazy or stupid, most likely both.

"You were not a member of Kinteth's party."

"Yes I was. Why are you refusing to believe me? You said that you knew all of the stories."

"I do. I know all of the stories about Kinteth, Layla, Reedgor, and Tepp. So I know for a fact that you were not in Kinteth's party.

Hearing Mill say the names of Kinteth's party members didn't seem to be enough proof for Pierce. He started to reach out for any possible answer.

"Is it because I didn't help them fight Agralon? That can't be it they were the ones that told me not to come. Is it because they thought I was useless? Did I not contribute enough to them? Were we never friends? Did I dishonor them somehow? This doesn't make any sense."

"What do you mean they told you not to come?" Mill still didn't 100% believe that Pierce was a part of Kinteth's party or even that he was his ancestor, but this reaction had to mean something.

"I-What? I'm sorry what did you say, Mill?" Pierce turned to Mill with his hand scratching his head.

"You said that they told you not to come. What do you mean by that?" Pierce looked at Mill for a moment as he now saw genuine concern on the boy's face. Pierce took a deep breathe and began to explain the situation to Mill.

"I had been a part of Kinteth's party for about 5 years at that point and we all knew that the time to face Agralon was approaching and everyone of us was ready to face him. However, around 6 months before the battle took place it was unanimously decided that I would not participate in the battle."

"Why?"

"It was probably because even after having my abilities for years by that point I was still only usefull in specific situations. And at the level I was at back then I would have been completely useless in the battle. So I was sent off to travel on my own. For 6 months, while they battled the last General of Destruction, I was on my own." Mill could understand what it was that Pierce was likely feeling. That feeling of being useless in the face of danger, when the people you care about the most risk their lives. Mill continued to listen to Pierce.

"After, I was removed from the party I wondered around for a while and managed to meet the woman that would eventually become my wife. She helped me to get through a rough time which also led to me realizing the true abilities that I had within me. So I set off towards where the others would be fighting Agralon, but the battle had long been over by the time that I made it." Mill was now fully entranced by his ancestor's story so much so that he didn't even dare to interrupt Pierce.

"When I made it I had seen my former party members sitting in the middle of what could only be described as a catastrophic landscape. They told me that they had never seen such an incredible sight as the fight between Kinteth and Agralon. It had been like a battle of two war gods endlessly clashing. The fight had lasted three whole days, but in the end Kinteth realized that he couldn't beat Agralon."

Kinteth couldn't defeat Agralon? Mill suddenly realized something very long with that sentence but let his ancestor continue to see what happened next. If he was right this would change the very history his world was built on.

"In the end Kinteth decided to bargain with the Ancient Disaster. He apparently sold his body, soul, and bloodline to the demon in hopes that he would seal himself for as long as the disaster believed it would be worth. At this point Agralon, though he was evil, respected the first mortal that had ever been able to stand up to him in battle so he agreed to 1,500 years of imprisonment and then he would return to destroy the world. Thus, Agralon grabbed Kinteth and flew into the sky to regain his strength for 1,500 years." Pierce had felt quite nostalgic as he told Mill his past as he hadn't had the ability to talk to anybody for many years.

"Kinteth didn't defeat Agralon? He made a deal and sealed him?" Mill's sudden question about the story was quite strange to Pierce.

"No, did you not know that? Do you not pay attention in history class, Mill?"

"That isn't how it's written in history, Pierce. I was taught that Kinteth managed to defeat Agralon, but lost his life in the process. If what you said is true then we are in a very bad situation." Pierce had never heard something so crazy in his life.

"They lied about an event as important as that. That can't be right. There's no reason for them to do something as idiotic as that. The damage that it would cause in the long run would be worse than if they did spread the word. Why would they do that? Who would do that?" Mill shrugged is shoulders.

"All I know is that based off of what you just told me there are 6 years until the rebirth of Agralon and if he is anywhere near as strong as he was in the past, then the world is in a mountain of trouble." Pierce gave a nod in agreement. He looked up at Mill.

"Mill, you have to find a way get word to Kinteth's descendants. You're the only one that knows the truth. You should also get stronger and prepare for the day of his resurrection so that you can help out as much as possible." Mill was shocked that Pierce had so much confidence that Mill could do it.

"How am I supposed to become that strong when I don't even have an ability? I wouldn't even be able to stand in the same space as Agralon without crumbling let alone defeat him." Pierce grabbed Mill by the shoulders and looked the boy in his eyes.

"Mill, if you are truly my descendant then I know that you can't just stand by as that disaster threatens the world that you love. You can not let the excuse of uselessness and fear prevent you from doing everything you can to help." Mill was shocked. The man in front of him seemed like a completely different person than he was at the beginning of the conversation.

"Besides, you do have an ability." Mill stood up abruptly.

"I do?!" Pierce let go of Mill and smirked.

"Well it's more of a trait than an ability but it is pretty useful once you get the hang of it." Mill let out an impatient sigh. "Stop being vague and just tell me what my ability is." Pierce smiled gently for a second be for immediately turning serious.

"Mill this trait that we possess is very, very powerful. It changes depending on the emotion we are feeling at the moment. It took me years to discover it because it was of how seamlessly it activated, so this information alone should help you. I don't know if your ability will be as potent as mine was but it is best for you to try to learn it anyway." Mill had never heard of an ability like this before.

"It's based on my emotions? Then what emotions do what? Is there a way for me to be able to control my emotions to that level? How will I-" Pierce cut Mill off and smiled helplessly.

"Mill I want to help you master this ability, but I can't. Like I said I don't even know if your ability will be similar to mine. I'm sorry that I can't be of more help but that's part of what becoming strong is. You have to overcome any challenge that the world throws at you and use that experience to grow." Mill nodded in understanding.

Mill began to walk away from Pierce to leave since he had to learn how to use his ability as fast as possible. Before leaving Mill turned around one last time. and gave a deep bow to Pierce.

"Thank you, for giving me your bloodline, Ancestor Pierce Hoodwagon. I swear I will use it to its full potential." Pierce gave one final smile to his descendent and waved.

"See you later, Descendent Mill Kabrok. I know that you won't disappoint me."

With that final exchange Mill left the room.

"I swear I won't let you down, Pierce!"
