"Who are you ?" His eyes smoldered her face and sent chills down her spine.
"A food monger who is eating her last meal." She rolled her eyes.
"You are not the only one hungry; Others are also hungry. Eat with some decency." He released her hand, her actions disgust him.
She was choked with the morsels in her mouth, grabbing a glass of water and then annoying gulping sounds filled the room. She emptied the whole content; carelessly place the glass on the table and make a loud nasty belch and the men ewwed in disgust.
"Decency." She scoffs.
"Yah!!! Why should I care about decency when you keep reminding me of how you can't wait to unalive me?
"Clever." Armstrong clapped. "I'm the one to kill you, not some food."
"Hahahahaha." Mellisa burst out and then froze. "But how can you be talking about someone's life like you can create any? Who the fuck are to determine how I should die?
The men gasps. Raiden shook his head, picked his spoon, and scooped for himself a sumptuous portion, eating slowly from his plate, his eyes averted to another position. If minding my business was a person.
Samie sniggered with his hands covering his mouth and trying to hide his face under the table.Arson chuckled loudly almost falling off his chair. Ramsey gasped, picked up an Apple, and chew carelessly from it while still averting his gaze from the two.
Calton threw a lingering look filled with confusion at Raiden and Raiden averted his face, avoiding his questioning stare while sneering secretly.
Boyld's face was muddled and he kept waving a NO! NO!!! signs with his two hands yet Mellisa wasn't legend enough to understand the signs.
Armstrong clapped his head, frowned, and then burst out laughing. An action that the men know means danger heating somewhere.
"You sure got some nerves, Kitten."
"It's Mellisa." She replied amidst squirming inside. No matter how strongly she wanted to stand up for herself, no matter how she tries to defend and speak for herself, Armstrong's presence always throws her off the cliff. He has that aura that signaled danger. His intimidating demeanor demonizes her; she wonders how someone this cute and adorable will be exhibiting such a flamy aura.
The way he stared at her is making her uncomfortable; like he is about strangling her to death.
She studied the other men and after seeing their reaction, she decided to gambit another way just so she will escape from Armstrong's threatening stares.
"Hmmm." She cleared her throat, drawing the men attention to her. She rubbed her hands and said.
"You know a living dog is better than a dead Lion, and being the wife of a late hero is better than being the wife of a living coward. What I'm trying to say is this." She stopped and looked at the men and when she saw their attention focusing on her, she beamed with a smile.
"What I'm trying to say is that keeping me alive is better than having me dead, I can do tasks for you guys."
"Those two adages don't align with what you are trying to say," Rai whispered to her hearing.
"Whatever." She waved him off. "As long as you understand what I meant."
"Stop being tricky." Arson deadpan.
"Who? Me? She flinched back pointing at herself, then giggles. "Do you think I'm that useless? Come on! Listen I'm a student nurse, forget about the student in it." She waved him aside. "A trained nurse; I have been working all my life starting as a younger nurse to this. You can tell how useful I will be to treat you guys' wounds after your operations."
"What operations are you talking about.? Calton who was tired and confused at the same time asked
"Aren't you a Mafioso? Mellisa blurted out.
"Mafioso! Mafioso!! What's that? Calton's eyebrows pulled in confusion, then he looked at Raiden for an explanation.
"Mafioso! Mafioso!!! Rai scoffed. "You indeed swallowed some nerves."
"I mean.....
"Enough." Armstrong banged on the table, startling her, and Mellisa could hear a pin drop as a deafening silence took over the whole room.
"Glad you know we are Mafias; then how about we do the Mafia's work on you." Armstrong began, trailing his finger from her hair tucking it at the back of her ear, trailing his fingers through her hair. All this sends electric sparks down Mellisa's system and she swallowed hard. Sweats clouded her neck and gave her shivers.
Hope he ain't hypnotizing her to death.
His eyes smoldering her, she wanted to draw her chair backward but his looks pinned her down and paralyzed her legs. She can't feel herself, all her system was paralyzed by this Demigod. His finger trailed down and stopped at her throat and he gently lift her jaw, making her face him and Mellisa was able to look inside his eyes. His eyes radiate this time with flames, ready to burn her alive. She swallowed hard, trying to avert her face but his fingers held her strong. How he was able to do all this is what she can't understand.
"Having a sharp tongue is good but don't you think not all situations required a blabbermouth? He deadpans.
Mellisa giggled foolishly at his remark to the surprise of Armstrong and his men.
Carefully, she removed his finger from her jaw and pushed her seat backward.
"Have you heard of the blood of the innocent? She gradually stood up, hands on her tiny waist, even though she is still weak, she only got to play her card well if not they will kill her without mercy, and since the journey of life means if you can't get a help hand, then be yourself helping hand. She better gives herself a helping hand now.
The men watched in surprise as she keep stepping back, then she stopped when she is an inch far from her former position.
Armstrong scoffed at her action, the fact he found her behavior funny is confusing the men more and more, this can never be Armstrong. A devil in disguise.
" We kill for a living, and we used the blood of the innocent for cleansing," Armstrong smirked and Mellisa flinched.
She stared at the man who got the oxymoronic features of having an angelic face but was a monster. How can someone be this bold to brag about how many people he killed?
"And you are saying none of those touch your heart? Only a monster will brag about doing evil." She crossed her hands akimbo.
"Yeah! You are right; How about we show you what monsters can do? Armstrong sneered, the huskies in his voice is sending threatening chills down her spine but she tried her best not to show it. She can literally hear her heart squirming, then Armstrong snapped his fingers and the huge door that leads to the entrance and exit of the dining room opened, then she heard a loud bark as a huge dog with big ass fur emerged from the door.
If she was scared of the men before, right now she is terrified as she watched the dog wiggling it ass fur towards her, its furry face makes it difficult for her to see the color of its eyes but she is sure it was something like red, maybe drinking blood has become part of it. The dog snarled as it kept coming and Mellisa's body shook violently.
Is this crazy bitch going to feast on her flesh? No! She kept stepping back.
Yes, she loves dogs, she even got one as a pet, but this particular one scared the shit outta her. She stepped back nervously as the dog snarled, showing the destructive teeth it uses to crush souls to death. And what scared her the most is the men were just sitting and watching her like she is giving them a live show.
He can see uncertainty settled on Boyld's face, even Samie and Ramsey were perplexed. Those three looked a bit bothered.
She kept stepping back as the dog advance, she doesn't care about the previous pains she had been through, what matters right now is how she will save herself from this mad ass dog.
The dog barked again and howled and she flinched back immediately, then she scowled, well it wasn't necessary but the anger boiling inside her can make hot eba.
The dog stretched, twist its neck, and snarled, ready to jump on her. She could hear the sounds of her heart leaving her body, her sweats rippled and dropped, and it intensify her nervous system.
Why does it look like she is in a rivalry between life and death? She swallowed hard, calculating every move of this dog. From the way the dog was peering at her shows that it's a trained dog that calculates each move before attacking its opponent. Now she is curious about how she will survive this.
"Can she dodge it, if it happens to jump on her? Yes, she remembered some safety tricks and tactics she had practiced with Riana, but will those be enough to save her from this monstrous animal glaring at her?
Will she be able to dodge its first attack? She swirls around searching for anything that will serve as a weapon to smack on its head if there should be a need.
Then she beamed amidst scowl. Dodge its first attack and smashed its head with that vase at the corner. Hope I will able to lift it? The best is to keep moving backward, getting closer to the vase is the goal.
As she thought carefully, she stepped back nervously, getting ready to dodge. She grin broadly as another thought swished through her. How can she forget she once did gymnastics? Not an elite gymnast to say, but little backflips with a double twist will save her now.
She beamed; She already pictured herself doing the backflips, picking up the vase, and smashing it on the dog's head. Like those heroines in survival movies.
Call it animal cruelty she doesn't care. Desperate measures call for desperate actions. She already sees herself as the heroine and she can't wait to scream her victory. Just when she was still lost with her safety statistics and tactics, the dog howled and tried jumping over on her, immediately she saw its legs lifting from the ground, and she screamed out.
She heard herself calling out the name she never once thought she will call out.
Why his name of all the names she could think of? The Irony of calling out the name that desired to see you dead.
