When Song Yan saw Madam Mu cry, she couldn't help but ask, "Are you alright, Madam?" She understood why Madam Gu was crying but it was too late for her to shed tears as her eldest son was already gone.

If she was in Madam Mu's shoes, then she would have tried everything to save her son no matter what the people said about her. As long as it had even a little bit of possibility she would have been willing to try. 

Madam Mu nodded while her husband rubbed her back. She raised her head and wiped the corners of her eyes with a handkerchief. She said, "I am grateful to you, Madam Song. If not for your help my son..he too would have followed his eldest brother!" As she finished speaking a few more tears leaked out.
