Bab 24: Prologue: How To Be A Good Hypocrite
[Omniscient Reader's POV]
It has been a month since our favorite hypocrite, Hachiman, became Shizuka's boyfriend. They haven't told anyone about their relationship yet. Not even Hachiman's family know about it.
Hachiman doesn't tell his family not because he wants to hide his relationship with Shizuka from them, but because of their reaction.
He is not afraid of his family rejection towards his relationship, mind you. But rather, his family doesn't even realize something has changed between the two.
Surprisingly, Hachiman and Shizuka have also come to a conclusion that nothing has really changed between them even after they are dating. It turns out, aside from the improved intimacy, they have always behaved like a couple for all this time.
"Gorilla, are you hungry?"
"What do you think, Kaonashi?"
"You don't?"
Shizuka looks up to her boyfriend, Hachiman. She is completely unamused by Hachiman's display of playing the fool. She is pretty sure Hachiman has heard her stomach rumbling for five minutes straight!
"You better go make something or I'll smack the life out of you," Shizuka said.
Hachiman looks down at his girlfriend, who is in his embrace, with faint amusement. "Now, now. Can you even stand being alone without me?" He looks at Shizuka with a smirk.
"That's funny!" Shizuka chuckles merrily. "Jokes on you, I've been alone for years!" Then, it dawned upon her she has just dug her own grave.
"It must have been your work, huh?! You must have baited me to say that!"
Hachiman sighs. "You know.. at this point, every misfortune you have experienced so far were all caused by me."
"W-well.. you know.. it's the man's job to take the blame in a relationship." Luckily, she still has the conscience to blush, after saying that.
"Well, you are really inexperienced, aren't you?" Hachiman chuckles once again.
"Hmph! I can show you my experience in another aspect." Shizuka smirks arrogantly.
"Please, you were the one who backed out when we were about to do the deed."
"S-so what? You don't like it?!" At that, Hachiman shakes his head while smiling faintly.
Yes, they haven't done any sexual deed yet. They are still in the phase of understanding each other better.
Of course, it is mainly attributed to Hachiman's inexperience about love. He still wants to revel in the unfamiliar feeling called love for a little bit longer. For him, it makes their relationship more precious.
Getting connected physically with someone is an easy thing for him to do. But, having his soul connected to someone is a very hard thing to do, since no one can actually understand him. But with Shizuka, he can feel they are spiritually connected.
Of course, the thing mentioned earlier has nothing to do with Zanpakuto.
"I will cook you something. It is better than watching this anime."
"What are you talking about? Chiba Ghoul is a great anime!"
Hachiman laughs in amusement. He is still rather baffled Tokyo Ghoul is Chiba Ghoul in this world. Well, at least, the edginess and the characters are still the same, as he likes to say.
"He is too edgy for my taste."
"Huh, aren't you the same too?" Shizuka looks at Hachiman in genuine puzzlement.
Hachiman's face turned neutral. "Now, that's what I'm talking about!" Shizuka points her finger to Hachiman's face. "You really look like Kaneki!"
Hachiman sighs, and lifts his bag.
"H-hey, don't leave! I was just joking!" Shizuka runs to hug Hachiman from his back, and holds him in his place. "I like watching Chiba Ghoul because Kaneki reminds me so much of you." She hugs him tighter. "You know how much I love you."
Everyone, although we have seen her as an independent woman for all this time, she is actually a desperate woman.
Therefore, once Hachiman became her boyfriend, she danced for an hour straight in her room — after Hachiman went home, of course!
"I am glad you love me that much. But, I was just trying to check my phone in my bag. I won't go anywhere," Hachiman said innocently.
Shizuka's eyes darkened, but she holds herself back from blowing up. She knows Hachiman will laugh his fucking ass off if she blows up. She is already familiar with his antics.
Hachiman chuckles at Shizuka's silence. He knows she is sulking. If he doesn't do something about it, Shizuka will absolutely do something childishly ridiculous.
Last time, she messaged Maiko that Hachiman had stolen her underwear. He was grounded until Shizuka admitted it was merely a "prank".
Hachiman was too bewildered to properly react at that time. He couldn't believe Shizuka, an adult, would resort to something like that.
"You know... I love everything about you." Hachiman turns his body, and puts his hands on her hips. "But, I can't bring myself to like your taste in anime." He spins, and sways Shizuka around.
"L-let go of me! It's dizzying!"
Hachiman ignores Shizuka's word, and keeps spinning.
In the end, both of them are feeling dizzy. Even Shizuka has to run to the sink, as she feels the need to vomit.
"Kuuhh..." Hachiman clutches his head. "Noted. Spinning is a bad idea." He stands up, and also runs to the sink. "Are you okay, my lovely gorilla?" Hachiman then Brigs his hand to Shizuka's stomach. "I hope our baby is alright."
"Baby your head! I am just feeling nauseous, bastard!"
Hachiman ignores her, and wraps her in his embrace from the back. Shizuka is about to scold him, but she decided to enjoy the warmth of his embrace in the end. That is, until, something happens.
Grumble!
Hachiman puts his hand on Shizuka's stomach, again. "I guess our baby is hungry." Shizuka sighs. "I hate the fact you can make me love you and hate you at the same time." Instead of joking, Hachiman kisses Shizuka's head. "I love you too, Gorilla."
...
Winter is close to an end, and our favorite hypocrite, Hachiman, is facing a trouble.
"My uniform is getting smaller!"
Komachi, who is eventually in his room, looks at him with unamused eyes. "Onī-chan. You know you are the one who has grown too much, don't you?"
"Well... Puberty hits me hard."
Just like he has said, he has been constantly growing for two centimeters every month starting from three months ago. But, right after he experienced love, the day he became a lover with Shizuka, his growth has been astronomical.
Last month, he was only 177 centimeters tall. This month, he is already 182 centimeters tall.
"I'm glad I didn't spend my time dribbling the ball in naught." He smirks.
"Anyway, what will you do Onī-chan? You are too muscular for your uniform to fit on your body."
"Hmm... Well, what can I do? I'll be graduating in two weeks. I will have to bear it until then."
Komachi hums to herself, while looking Hachiman up and down. Now, she understands why those aunties from the neighborhood keep sending glances to her brother.
He is hot!
Well, she doesn't really know what is there to her brother's muscular build, actually. In her mind, her brother is already handsome even before he gets muscular. She shrugs, before leaving her brother to get dressed.
Puberty hasn't hit our lovely Komachi, it seems.

AEON Mall Makuhari Shintoshin, Mihama-ku, Chiba.
Hachiman has just finished his entrance examination to Sobu High. Currently, he is "celebrating" it by having a date with Shizuka. So, now, they are in a purse store, as Shizuka suddenly developed an urge to buy one.
While Shizuka is choosing the one that catches her interest, every eyes are directed at them. To be exact, every woman's eyes are directed to Hachiman. He looks too handsome in his black turtleneck and blazer to be ignored.
"Hachiman, what do you think of this purse?"
"Hm? You don't really need that purse, do you?"
"W-well.." Shizuka looks to the side in embarrassment.
Hachiman quirks his eyebrow in interest. "I guess I'm not in the know about something?"
"Ku-kuhum! I will tell you, so don't laugh!" Shizuka looks at Hachiman seriously. Hachiman nods his head. Shizuka points her pointer fingers toward each other, and fidgets them. "T-there will be a high school reunion, and I want to look great."
Hachiman blinks his eyes, before a faint smile appears on his face. "Does it require you to bring a partner?"
"W-well.. yeah. But, since I believe you don't want to go with me, I will have to go alone. Therefore, I will have to look good!" she smiles in forcefully.
Hachiman smirks in amusement. He is amazed at two things. One, Shizuka's stupidity. Two, her ability to make him feel guilty.
"You just have to ask me, you know. You don't need to make me feel guilty to make me go with you."
"H-huh? I will never do that!" Shizuka is genuinely flustered.
Hachiman instantly retracts his word. It turns out, Shizuka is just stupid. She is surprisingly genuine in a relationship.
He has expected her to be as manipulative as she usually does in her daily life. But, she has never been manipulative to him even once.
Hachiman takes hold of Shizuka's hand. "Come on. I will show you how to amaze your friend at your reunion later." He leads her slowly towards some place.
Shizuka follows Hachiman's lead, but she can't help but ask. "What are you going to do to surprise them?"
"It's easy." Hachiman smirks. "Show them how rich you are."
Eventually, according to Chris' book, that is how to be a good hypocrite, everyone.
