“We are really sorry, Miss Amelia Bennett. But we can’t hire you as our veterinarian right at this moment. That’s why we weren’t able to arrange the interview.”

The blunt response from the young nurse brutally shattered the dim ray of hope in Amelia’s heart, leaving her too stunned to speak. She stared at the nurse with disbelief, standing as numb as a block of ice.

It was one of the reputed veterinary hospitals in the town where she had dreamt of beginning her new journey as a veterinarian. As a privilege of being the top scorer in her medical school, she had a prior fixed interview date.

But, in the blink of an eye, her long-awaited dreams crumbled into pieces, pointing out the painful reality. Felix, her ex-boyfriend, was appointed as a doctor at the same hospital, and they planned to prosper together.
