Bab 5: Chapter 5
"What are you both doing here?", he yelled out turning to the officer and informing them that he did not want to see any of them.
"Forgive me, Hendrick, I know that I was a coward and should have told Mr. Tores the whole truth about his wife being the one that had been forcing herself on you but due to your incessant denial to get her laid, she became disgruntled and wanted you to pay for turning her down her offer", his colleague spoke out.
Not believing his ears, he looked at him with an unpleasant stare as he asked him why he meant by that and that was when his boss spoke out saying,
" My wife in an attempt to murder Collins here, after his constant threat to her as he said that he was going to reveal the truth about what had happened, left her with no choice but to want to eliminate him to bury her secret. Unfortunately for her, Collins survived the attack on him by the goons that she had sent to kill him so he ran to him to explain everything".
Hendrick listening to all that Mr. Tores had let out from his mouth, spoke out with a heavy voice and sadness in his eyes and reminding him about everything that he had done to him and his mother, thanked him for being so wicked and not believing in his words when he and his mother was pleading for her son's innocence.
"I am deeply sorry Hendrick and I hope you and your mother can forgive me and accept the little token that I have for you both", his box spoke out but with an irritated tone, he yelled out at him saying that he will not take anything from his hand.
That was how he left the prison and returned to his mother where they both came to live in that small community away from all those memories that only brought them nothing but pain and he had tuned out of being a pickpocket stealing from the rich ones lost especially to take care of his sick mom***.
He had come out of his trance and noticing that Daniella could not be seen on the road, he immediately opened the door with the help of the keys that was in his hands, and dropping off the things that were In his hands, he locked the doors and began to search for her.
Deep down, he had realized that she was not a bad person but rather, she was just going through some difficulties and needed someone to talk to. Kendrick could not explain why he was attached to Daniella, but he knew that he need to stop her before she does something foolish.
He walked in the road calling out for her since he did not know her name but everywhere was calm and he could not find her, it was as though she had evaporated from the surface of the earth.
Hendrick thought back to seeing her take the creek path and without further ado, he ran off to the shore to see whether he could find her there, but to his greatest shock, Daniella was already inside the water and the waves were pushing her to its center.
" Oh my goodness, she is trying to drown her", Hendrick exclaimed. He took off his t-shirt and dived into the water, swimming as fast as his hands could take him shouting for her to turn back and face him but Daniella who was already ready to end her suffering to join her mother in the underworld, closed her eyes as she sank into the profundity of the deep.
Hendrick had swamps to get her and not being able to see her anymore, he searched under the water and came back up to the surface whenever he felt that his breath was getting short and taking enough air, he will dive back into it.
After a few attempts, he had finally caught a glimpse of her lifeless with her body as weak as an over-cooked noodle. Holding her with his left arm, he swamps back to the shore using his right and when he had finally made it to the store with her, Hendrick placed her straight on the ground with his hands opening up her mouth, which was to serve as a passage for air to get into her stomach.
"Wake up lady", Hendrick said, while pressing her chest with both hands formed like a compressor on it. He pressed some more and blew some more air into her mouth and after several attempts, she couched out water, and Hendrick turning her to the side rapidly, caressed her back with his hand.
" Calm down it's okay now, you are saved", his words came out and Daniella who had not yet noticed the identity of the one who had saved her, whispered,
"Why did you have to take me out of there, you should have just let me die".
Her face had turned red and her tears could be seen formed in her eyes. Lifting her head, she saw Hendrick looking at her with a sad face while he asked her what the problem was,
" What could give rise to a young, rich, and beautiful young lady to want to take out her own life?", he raised a question that brought about a feeling of thought in Daniella's mind as she was thinking of the possibility that, he was not as bad as she had just him to be.
With a pull out of strength she rose to her feet and walked away from him, she heard a voice speaking from behind asking where she was going to, but Daniella not knowing why she was saved by him, thought back to a solution to her problems and on giving attention to him asking her what he could do to make her not to commit suicide, Daniella stopped and veering her head to have a look at him, she asked,
"What did you just say?".
" I asked what I could do to make you return to your home and family", and Daniella with a serious countenance muttered,
"Marry me".
