Citskii liked Cael's suggestion more than the current pointless carnage, but he wasn't a chief of the merfolks' tribe. He promised to pass the world to the actual chief, though, and the adventurers had to settle on that for the day.
There wasn't much to do while they waited. Tarek went to the harbor to talk with his acquaintances about the ship described by Citskii, but the rest of the team would only be underfoot there.
But when Myrna went to her room in the inn to read, Cael saw his opportunity to finally catch Niko alone for a conversation.
"Did you want to know something? Or to find something?" Niko asked when the two of them settled in Niko's room. It smelled strongly of herbs and substances that made Cael feel slightly dizzy. "It would cost you."
"Why do you do mercenary work and treasure hunting when you could just sell your services to nobles? I know people who'd kill to have someone like you in their employ," Cael wondered.
