Bab 257: Torn loyalties

Cael knew it would take the ambassador and his group at least two weeks to reach Mattoni's capital. Mimi could cross that distance in a couple of days.

In other words, Cael was in no hurry to reunite with the main group, especially after the meeting with the ejderha pair. They created too many questions in his head.

After leaving the city, Cael's group landed in an empty spot in a steppe for a brief break. There, on a field of yellow-green grass and under the sun even more scorching than the one of his homeland, Cael made his suggestion.

"Tarek, we have time to spare. Where does your family live? We should visit it before going to the capital. I'm afraid we will get in deep trouble there, and then you might not have a chance."
