Bab 250: To rest at last, part 3

Cael gulped on the delicious blood like a man dying from thirst in a desert. As more of that metallic taste filled his mouth, more of the liquid fell into his stomach, he felt finally content.

Instead of threatening to drain Ginevra dry as Cael feared, he found himself regaining calm and self-control only after a dozen swallows. With one final lick, he moved back from Ginevra's wrist and pressed on the holes left by his fangs to stop the bleeding.

He estimated that he had drawn enough blood from Ginevra that she felt it. She looked slightly pale when Cael looked at her face.

"Thank you, Gin," Cael said. "I think I should've done that a long time ago. Mimi, you can relax now."

He shifted her from himself so they both could sit up and made a cut on his palm. Then he put it on Ginevra's wrist and began to chant the Vitality Transfer spell.
