Mimi's mouth was too busy with her food for speaking, but she nodded eagerly to Cael's offer.

The palaces of the rich people in the city were really spectacular. Before, Cael didn't have time or peace of mind to appreciate them to their full extent, but now things were different. He wasn't a big master of architecture, but their tall arches and wide facades made him think.

"They are built like peasant houses back home—wide and stout, so they won't fall even if bad weather hits, and so builders don't have to carry building materials up. Mages build towers high up, but they need magic to bring stones there, and to enforce walls and the foundation. People in the Mattoni Empire don't like magic, so they…" Cael even gasped from realization. "Did they really build all that without magic at all? I sense no enchantments on the walls, but not even on the building stage? Astounding!"
