To know one's enemy was half of the victory over them. Cael had a general idea of who Dante was, but a man could change drastically in two hundred years.

Yet, from the glint of interest in Dante's eyes, he didn't change all that much from what Mimi told about him.

"You are right, signore Amato," Cael said slowly. "The original prisoners of the Inverted Tower didn't survive. But their descendants did—and they even inherited some of their parents' magical aptitude. And, of course, intelligence. Even more, they found a ritual to partially transform into humans—although it was flawed and killed many who tried to use it."

Dante leaned closed, not hiding or unable to hide how these words affected him. His mana retracted inside his mana pool again, and the tension in the room fell considerably.
