This all complicated matters. It was relatively easy to evade one bounty hunter-priest, but the bounty changed things. While a single gold coin was tantamount to pocket change for Cael, for a commoner, it was a year or more worth of wages.
'Good thing that I traveled by a river,' Cael thought. 'At least the ship's crew didn't hear about these posters. Until now.'
He put his beret just a little lower, knowing perfectly well that it doesn't hide his face and only looks stupid, and walked past the notice board and the pub.
Cael had to do something with his looks, and he still needed information and a meal. But where could he get all those with no one reporting on him to the Church?
'I guess when one grows out scales, he has to slither with the snakes.'
With these thoughts, Cael pushed down his mana to attract less attention. Then he looked around, spotted a direction that seemed to feature the dirtiest streets and ugliest people, and went that way.
