As soon as Cael heard the sound, bells of alarm sounded in his head. He dashed back without hesitation, narrowly avoiding the tendrils of gray smoke that flew from under Dante's torn clothing.
'That was close!' Cael thought, eying the smoke from a safe distance. 'Did Dante try to poison me again? Even if it didn't kill me, it would've slowed me down if I breathed any poison in…'
Dante clicked his tongue. "What a quick reaction. You move with a truly astounding speed… But I came prepared."
With two forceful tugs, he tore off the sleeves of his robe. Underneath them, Dante wore leather bands on both his muscled forearms, which held several glass tubes. The shards of the few broken by Cael fell to the floor.
"Is that all you can do? Trying to poison me? Didn't you realize already that it won't work?" Cael spat out as he eyed Dante.
