I shoot an annoyed look at LeAnn. She tries to hide her smile. "What, Sam? It's true. You know no one can get in and out of place unless it's okayed by Ryder. I'm not saying anything bad. It's the truth."
I sigh. Annoyed or not, LeAnn is telling the truth. Back in New Jersey, I could escape the bedroom Ryder had me locked in. After that, I was literally trapped. The only two doors in and out of the mansion had no doorknob. Everyone that worked for him wasn't allowed to have cell phones on them. Every worker in that house was extremely loyal to Ryder.
Freddie and LeAnn begin their dialogue as I space out and start thinking about my parents. Mom and Dad want to see this new house, but I have reservations about it. Even the twins, my best friends from California, want to come out. I keep putting it off.
"How's the baby thing coming along?" LeAnn whispers out of nowhere, bringing me back from my reverie.
