Bab 37: As Long As I'm Here

Vanessa stared at the woman who looked down on her. She mocked herself inwardly. Who would have thought she, Vanessa Thompson, would be subjected to such a life?

Yes, she was from a lowly background. Her mother was but a food server, who had run away six years after she was born from an abusive marriage, and her father was an abusive truck driver who would hit her severely almost to the point of death. She looked down on such a life. She wanted to be on top of the world. She wanted to look down on those who had mocked her. And she did manage to reach a greater height.

However, she was simply too greedy. Aiming for a position she would and could never obtain, she had lost everything. Everything she had was gone and Vanessa regretted it. But not enough.
