Satin watched as Stoney took out a single tea bag and added the perfect temperature water to a giant mug. She soaked the teabag, making it suddenly appear glassy. The threads inside devolved fully, and in under a minute, Stoney had added a clear-looking cube. It reminded Satin of an ice cube, but Stoney had taken it from a bowl on the counter. She then took out a strange red liquid and showed a toothy grin at Satin.
"With milk or without Hunny bun?" Stoney seemed just as amused as Chanty was.
"With?" Satin stole a glance at her friend.
The small parakeet on Stoney's shoulder chortles nonsensically, but the two women must have understood because they laughed. Stoney filled the mug to the top with the strange red drink. The cup was set before Satin with two translucent cookies shapes. Chanty ordered something else that sounded like totally another language as Satin delicately picked up her tea and put it on one of the small standing tables by the booth. Azuki hopped on the table and sniffled heavily at the so-called tea.
"It smells like meat." She said with a paw over her small pink nose.
The idea made Satin's mouth water, and she took a sip. Much like before, when she ate the heartstring, her mouth was suddenly full. She felt the weight of the liquid in her cheeks, having only taking the tines sip.
It was sweet, like a delicious honey-roasted ham. Slowly that flavor gave away something new, a more earthy tone like when she drinks black tea. She swallowed, feeling her whole body tingle. She suddenly felt relaxed, more than she had yet. She was sure she was drinking someone's blood, but as long as she didn't know how's it was kind of okay, right?
Chanty soon joined her with a plate full of what looked like spaghetti, but it was translucent like rice noodles. On top was the same red liquid, but it seemed thicker. She ate it ravenously, not taking care to hide her sharp teeth at all. Satin cringed.
"You eat like a savage." She huffed, making Chanty chuckled.
"And you eat like a lady. That will get you noticed here." She motioned to a few others who were eating just as voraciously across at another stall.
"I am drinking someone's blood, aren't I?" Satin asked grimly but took another lovely sip of her tea.
"Pretty much, and heartstrings. It should be sweet, and when you have the tea, you don't normally encounter any memories of who every heartstring they might have been." She finished her plate before picking it up and licking it clean.
The disgust on Satin's face mounted. Satin shivered and shook her head, finally picking up one of the cookies.
The seconds she bites into it, she was thrust into a different place. Standing in front of her were triples, all lively and giggled at something with their backs to her. One of the girls perked up and looked back, it was Chanty, but she didn't look at all like Satin remembered. She was elegantly dressed in more bows and ruffles than Satin could have even sewn on a dress, and that was really saying something.
Satin dropped the sweet, and the imagery was gone. She was left staring at Chanty with was grinning wide.
"Just don't look at what is it, unless it's a good sex scene then, you get free porn." She chuckled.
"Chanty, you are a triplet?" was Satin's next question. Chanty tended and simply grabbed the cookie Satin had been eating and shoved it in her mouth.
"Hey!" Satin frowned as Chanty glared, chewing it up quickly. There was a long pause as the two stared each other down.
"Finish your tea," Chanty muttered with a snort and got up, taking her plate back to the counter.
"You didn't answer my question!"
"Not going to, now hurry up." Chanty snapped, showing a blush on her cold cheeks.
Satin pouted, took the last cookie, and stuck it in her dress pocket before she chugged the tea. It was hard, and she made a mess because each sip filled her mouth fully. She was able to finish but not without getting it all over her dress and the table.
Not even Azuki was spared. She had gotten some on the top of her head and was desperately trying to groom herself clean. The table shook as Tart kept on to it and easily pinned Azuki, grooming the spot clean on her head. The poor cat was red to the ears as she was cleaned.
"Now you're getting it. It doesn't taste as good if you don't make a mess." Stoney laughed from her place behind the counter as Satin came looking for napkins. "Don't worry about it, doll, but here is some anyways."
Satin nodded with thanks and took the napkins, cleaning herself up as she followed Chanty deeper into the market.
Her ears twitched as she heard the heartbeat once more. Now there were more Lulls. Making her realize there was more than one heart. They stopped a little before the auctioneer's table. Soon the gavel banged as more and more heartless gathered.
Satin hugged Azuki close, watching as a young man was brought out, he was blindfolded in his late 30's and Satin could not only heart his pounding heart but see it. It was a normal heart, simple and, much to her horror, delicious looking. She fidgeted the tea had filled her a lot more than any regular tea would have. Soon the gavel banged again, and the man was sold for millions. The exciting bidding heartless chuckled as she pulled the terrified man off the stage.
Satin should have felt sorry. She should have wanted to help. However, she just felt numb. He was simple food to these people.
How horrible.
Satin was just about to leave, but Chanty grabbed her hand.
"The one we want is coming next." She cooed smoothly.
