Jacewynn held up a hand. "I know, I know. Be careful, keep my head down, and don't provoke the emperor. Mother's usual warnings."

Linayra shook her head, her expression softening slightly. "Just... don't be reckless, Jace. Things are shifting in the empire, and you can't afford to play your games right now."

Jacewynn gave her a reassuring smile. "I'll be fine, Linayra. Don't worry about me."
