As I turned away from the piece of filth, my gaze drifted to the girls I had assumed were witnesses to the chaos. But then, confusion washed over me.
"They're all... sleeping?"
"I judged that the master was attempting something reckless, so I kept them under with a sedative. Was that unnecessary?"
"Oh no." I reached for the metallic ball, but he anticipated my move and dodged it effortlessly.
"Come here," I commanded.
"I refuse."
"Tch, that's why Snowy is cuter than you."
"With all due respect, being adorable wasn't part of my job description."
"Yet being obedient was, wasn't it?"
"No, it's about following the commands given."
"Then come here."
"I apologize, master, but I didn't quite catch that. Care to repeat?"
"Come here."
"I beg your pardon, but I still didn't quite hear you."
"Tch." I averted my gaze from the ball, redirecting it to the girls.
"So when do they wake up?"
"I can rouse them whenever. However, I believe it's wiser to move them from this place first."
"Right."
Moving four slender women, each barely around 50 KG, wasn't exactly a Herculean task.
As I was about to touch them, I remembered something and nodded toward the pile of metal scraps that once was a mecha, slumped in the corner all sliced up.
"Put on a show with the junk over there," I said.
"Make it flashy—explosive. We need to draw the royal army's attention. That banana haired will come running to see the job well done, I'm sure. So, get it done before we get too comfortable."
Without uttering any particular word, the ball moved to the side and got to work immediately.
Ten minutes later, with the women safely outside the building, Luxion orchestrated a spectacular firework display.
It erupted above us, from a distance it would appear as if an armour explode above us, casting a dazzling light show across the skies.
The ball returned to me, I could somehow sense a hint of satisfaction in this emotionless AI. for some reason.
"I'm really tired huh?"
"Pardon?"
"I say let us wake them up now."
With that said, Luxion moved toward the women and released a gas, almost perfume like, under their noses. Within ten seconds, they began to stir.
"Hello, do you understand your situation?" I asked immediately not waiting for them.
"Ye— Yeah," muttered the short girl. I doubt that.
"I want to tame this girl; I can probably train her in a month," I murmured under my breath with a hint of lunacy in my breath.
"U, um, did you say something? Sorry, I couldn't hear it," said the dark haired, her expression somewhat submissive.
"Oh..." They must still be in that groggy waking stage, where nothing makes sense immediately after you regain consciousness.
I composed myself and replied, "You were kidnapped by those pirates. I came here to draw and spotted them doing weird thing. I thought they were up to no good, so I checked it out, saw you were about to be assaulted, and stepped in to save you."
I concluded, aiming to appear as innocent and nonchalant as possible while subtly instilling the idea that I was their savior, which, in truth, I was.
The three girls exchanged glances, seemingly recollecting something, before sighing. I expected relief, but it seemed they were still gripped by fear.
"I don't know how it escalated to this, but I don't think the perpetrators will try anything again if they fear exposure in the royal capital," I assured them.
After digesting my words, the three girls seemed noticeably brighter.
But then there was a noise above us, louder than anything, closer to a jet engine. I looked up to see a group of twelve knights in full armor descending upon us.
As they land, their cockpits opened, and they stepped out, scanning the area.
The presumed leader, with a disturbingly stern face, asked in a gentle, almost soothing voice, "Boy, what happened here?"
I wondered why he was so gentle, unlike his expression, but then I realized my appearance—blood soaked and sunken after consuming a large amount of thelesmma— Oh.
With a respectful tone, I answered, "I caught sky pirates, Sir."
Most of the men appeared incredulous, but the middle aged leader asked again, "Pirates, you say?"
"Indeed, Sir. Follow me."
I led the way inside, and five of them, including the leader, promptly followed.
"Drawing is my hobby, Sir, but I was embarrassed, so I came here to the old warehouse district in disguise to check for a good spot."
"continue."
"But then because I heard there are many bad guys around here, so I brought some self defense weapons."
Hearing my explanation, he wore a perplexed expression and asked, "Why came to a dangerous area?"
"Romance Sir, as a man yourself, I believed you would understand."
Hearing my reply, he wore a, I don't understand... Weird? Expression.
His face seemed to say, "I see," but was still trying to remain stern.
It was a peculiar mix of understanding and awkwardness, as if he was trying to process everything while maintaining his authoritative demeanor.
"That's normal for a boy your age, but try not to do it again if you understand the danger."
"Yes sir, as I was saying," I continued.
"While wandering around the area, I heard some commotion here and saw guys doing weird stuff, so I checked."
He cut me off, "Weird stuff, you say?"
"Indeed. The guys here were covering all the doors, windows, and other exits." I gestured with my eyes.
"When I came here to check because I thought there was really someone who needed help, I saw those girls were about to be rape.
Because of the adrenaline rush, I suppose, or the thought that as someone who wish to become a knight one day, I couldn't help but rush in immediately.
And by some miracles, I was able to promptly subdue all of them."
"You? Alone?" a guy from the back muttered, not quite believed in my rambling perhaps.
"Yes, you can fact-check with the girls."
I opened the door, and as I did, all the men gasped and covered their mouths, horrified by the scene inside.
Around a dozen men lay scattered, blood splattered, some with injuries to their wrists, some with broken legs, and some with holes in their shoulders.
But what drew the most attention was the pillar in the middle, visible directly from the front door.
A man was there, both of his wrists pinned above his head together, interlocked, with a large knife pinning them to the pillar.
Blood clotted on his head, neck, and hair. He slouched his head our way, his left eye peeking through his greasy blonde hair, still conscious, breathing raggedly.
His knees were also pinned to the wall with a thin circular knives, tendons, and muscles splintered.
The leader's face turned grim as he took in the scene. "What... what exactly happened here?" he asked, his voice betraying the shock he felt.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. "These men were planning to assault the girls. I had to act quickly and decisively."
I moved inside," I used whatever means necessary to subdue them and ensure the girls' safety Sir.
But, during the fight they taunt me with what they had did in the past with commoner womens they had kidnapped before, and what they would do to those kids, I couldn't control myself. " I concluded, making a remorse expression.
It was pure nonsense, but who was there to condemn me?
The Knight leader nodded slowly, processing the information. "We'll need to take statements from everyone involved and secure the area. You've done a commendable job,"
He paused, "Young man," he emphasized, "I understand your anger quite well, but I would say this, it was not the right decision."
"I understand sir, and I apologize."
The needle I used would dissolved itself in their body, so there was nothing to worry for me anymore.
"Alright," he said, his voice steady but with a hint of uncertainty.
"Let's get these men secured and the girls to safety. We'll need to document everything for our records."
As the knights began their investigation, I couldn't help but feel a mix of exhaustion and apprehension.
The tension in the air was palpable, and I could see the other knights exchanging glances, still trying to wrap their heads around the scene before them.
They accepted the situation more easily than I imagined they would.
As they moved to secure the area and assist the girls, one of the younger knights approached me, his face a mixture of curiosity and disbelief.
"Did you really take down all these guys by yourself and save those girls?" he asked, almost in awe.
I nodded, trying to keep my voice not monotonic. "Yes, it was... intense, but I couldn't let them hurt those girls."
"Wow!... That's like... every knights, no a man's dream!" He exclaimed.
"I see." He smiled brightly at my curt reply.
Just do your damn job would you? I inwardly scold the guy.
He shook his head, clearly impressed. "You're something else, kid." Kid? You are only around 20.
"Thank you." I curtly responded, regardless.
The leader approached us again, his expression now more composed but still carrying that underlying strangeness.
"We'll need a full statement from you," he said. "And we'll have medics check you over. You've been through a lot."
"Of course, Sir and thank You." I replied, not really happy.
The girls were being tended to by the medics, I didn't even realise those guys have arrived, I inwardly mused.
"I really overextended myself, cough, cough." There was some blood there, but I quickly wiped it off.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves.
The leader approached me one last time, his voice softer now. "You did a brave thing today. But remember, next time try to find for help instead of barging in alone."
"Understood."
The young knight's face was flushed, clearly on the verge of saying something.
His eyes darted around nervously, and he bit his lip, holding back his words.
I could almost hear the unspoken thoughts running through his mind.
If he had spoken, I imagine it would have come out something like, "It was cool, what's the problem with being irrational?"
He finally blurted out, "I mean, you did what you had to do, right? If he hadn't those girls would've been in danger.
Sometimes you just have to act, even if it doesn't make sense. Who cares about being rational when lives are at stake, and most of all it work, didn't it?"
I gave him a small, weary smile. "You're right, If it's stupid and it works, it isn't stupid." I chuckled.
He nodded, "Yeah, it clearly worked, You saved them."
The knight leader gave a wry smile and walked away, not scolding the knight.
"But still, if it hadn't work, the consequence would have been greater, no? In that sense, I understand your commander."
The young knight seemed to ponder this, his expression softening. "I guess I never really thought about it that way. I just... you know, wanted to do something cool, like what you did."
I beg your pardon? What were you thinking then? Is there cow dung in your head boy?
I sighed gently, placing a hand on his shoulder and tapping.
"There's more to being a knight than just the glory. It's about responsibility, understanding the weight of your actions, and being prepared for the fallout."
He looked down, clearly absorbing my words. "I understand. I'll try to remember that."
I nodded. The young knight glanced at me, his eyes now filled with a new resolve. "I'll keep that in mind, Sir," he said, his voice steadier.
The medics had finished attending to the girls, and they were being escorted to safety.
The leader signaled for us to gather around, his expression serious once more. "We have much to discuss. This incident is just the tip of the iceberg. There are larger forces at play, and we must be prepared."
As we prepared to move out, the young knight walked beside me, spoke to me again, "Thanks for talking to me," he said quietly. "I'll remember what you said."
"You do that," I replied, giving him a reassuring nod.
