Bab 25: A SAFE PLACE

Giovanni gnawed on the bottom of his lips as he gripped the phone in his hand tightly, his knuckles nearly turning white with unusual nerves. The playful lilt between them instantly vaporised and was replaced by a daunting silence from the other end of the call. His brows furrowed with concern as he waited.

When he eventually processed the words which had left his mouth, a cold dread crept up his spine and his heart began to pound against his ribcage. The prospect of someone as powerful as Perque now working against him was truly terrifying. He had been in their employ for such a long time, carrying out their orders without fail.
