Kings Landing
The Red Keep
271 AC
The capital was buzzing with the news received from the Tourney at Riverrun. The people love to hear about a new rising star. After Dayne there has been nobody of note for the past few years but it seems thats going to change.
'Your grace. We just received word on the results of the tourney at Riverrun. The melee was won by the Blackfish.'
King Aerys scowled at the Master of whispers before asking,
'And how is this important news. We all know what kind of warrior the Blackfish is.'
'Your Grace there was said to be a very close battle between him and a young northerner named Mihawk Mormont. He's commonly known in the North as Hawkeye.'
'It was said to be a competion where both of them even while dueling eliminated the last five contenders. They were locked in a battle for a good while before the Blackfish managed to to trip him and he then yieled. All the reports say he is already on par with the Blackfish only difference is in high level combat experience.'
Aerys paused at that. He was there on the field that gave the Blackfish his fame. He knows how powerful he is and how much stronger he is from him. In his younger days how wasn't far less powerful than him but ruling has kept him out of combat. The realm needs a steady hand like him or it will collaspe ( at least thats what he tells himself).
'How old is the boy?'
'He is six and ten name days your grace.'
Absurd! He should be a greenboy. Most people only start using haki when they reach that age. Only the anomalies can be at this stage by now. Like Daemon Blackfire who got knighted at thirteen or the new strongest in westeros, Ser Arthur Dayne. A pity the kingsguard is full I could use men of such potential in there.
The news quickly tricked down the realm as everyone got to know the newly appointed knight. Some using for motivation to get stronger while others want to see if they can use it in any way for their benefit.
There has not been much moving and shaking in the realm for the past few moons ever since the queen, Rhaella Targareyan had another miscarriage. They say the King flew in such a range he killed the midwife accusing her of poisoning the queen and killing his baby.
'Barristan what do you make of this?' asked Ser Gerorld Hightower. While they were in the white sword tower resting after a gruelling spar in yard.
'A young greenboy shows up and almost defeats a veteran of war at a tourney… sounds like old times.' replied Barristan.
Gerold chuckled while removing his cloak and armor. When Barristan came into the scene he almost defeated the Red Lion. Immediately everyone knew they were watching a rising star.
'But sometimes stars burn too brightly initially before flickering out. I hope he isn't one of them.' said Barristan
'He won't. He's a northerner. Hard land creates hard people he won't let it go to his head. I even heard he has a valyrian steel sword that hasn't been documented. I wonder where he found it. Not like he will tell us.'
'What name did he give it?'
'Yoru the Black Blade.'

Excerpt from Heroes of the new Dawn by Maester Luwin written in 320 AC.
…one of the most influential people that fought in the war against the Others and the Night King was Lord Mihawk 'Hawkeye' Mormont. He was the second son of the 998th Commander of the Night's Watch Jeor Mormont. He was said to be a very precocious child growing up. Often helping people around in anyway he could even going as far as to train peasants whenever he could to help defend the last. This was a very unusual even frowned upon thing to do and it still is. As nobles seek to curb to amount of power that peasants can create for they outnumber them too much.
To this day Bear Island is the only place in Westeros that all commonfolk can use haki. After the initial learnt it from their lord they in turn teach it to each other after being told to do so by Hawkeye. Thanks to this Bear Island was very well defended during the War of the Dawn. When asked he simply replied,
'I hate the feeling of powerlessness. I would never want those under me to feel that way.'
Such a unique stance made him a friend if the smallfolk with relative ease. Smallfolks from all over the north travelled to move in or to at least learn how to use haki. Thus the North unintentionally had created the best martial army in Westeros.
In 271 AC he battled Ser Brynden Tully in a tourney and marginally lost. Regardless of his defeat this was huge news to the rest of the realm. Catapulted him to stardom. He was being talked about in the same sentences as Ser Barristan and Ser Arthur Dayne.
He would start journeying around Westeros with fellow knight, Mary Ann and her brother as hedge knights. They fought against clansmen in the Vale for a good while for House Arryn.
Dame Mary Ann and her squire eventually separated from the group in 273AC after hearing he was going to Essos to live as a sell sword for a while.
From 273AC to 277AC he fought in the disputed lands for a company of his creation, The Winter Horde. They would go on to be of the same famius disposition as The Company of the Rose. During one of his conquests he fought a Lyseni Sellsword who was using the Valyrian Steel Truth. This was were everyone was introduced to his dual wielding capabilities as if he was dangerous before… he was an unstoppable force of nature some go as far the call him 'The First Demon'. That was the name he earned from an attack on Myr.
After returning in 277AC. He cane back to Westeros. Just in time to meet the Defiance of Duskendale. Lord Jawkeye arrived in Kindlanding and also met Queen Rhaella Targaryen. He went on to become Queen Rhaella's sworn shield and protector...
