"Do you know why my mother hates you so much?" Bella suddenly lost her smile, which was replaced by a certain stiffness in her face.

She knew the exact reason her mother-in-law despised her so much.

But how could she tell Tristan that his mother had tried to kill his grandmother? Jessica didn't kill her directly, but her actions contributed to the old woman's death.

Bella was torn between telling the truth and keeping silent. She could imagine Tristan or William Sinclair kicking Jessica out of the family if they found out. 'How can I reveal that?' Bella was in a quandary.

After pondering for a few more moments, she looked Tristan in the eye.

"I'm not sure," Bella finally decided to keep Jessica's secret. "Maybe she needs me because of my poverty; I'm not sure..." She trailed off, noticing Tristan's slight frown.
