Bab 229: They are Mates

Alpha Gabriel's rage was palpable, a storm brewing just beneath the surface as he stared down Fenrir, who stood before him bloodied and empty-handed.

Fenrir's failure was an insult Gabriel couldn't abide. His plans to reclaim Victoria had been perfect—flawless. And yet, here he was, faced with utter incompetence.

"You're certain it was Victoria?" Gabriel asked, his voice sharp and biting, like the crack of a whip.

"Yes, Alpha," Fenrir replied, keeping his eyes on the ground. "I have no doubt. I almost had her, but that Alpha Kieran's Beta interfered. He seems very protective of her."

Gabriel's jaw tightened, his teeth grinding together as anger coiled through him. That arrogant Beta! Always meddling, always in the way. Gabriel's chest heaved as he tried to rein in his fury, though his efforts were in vain.
