"Why are you telling me?"

"Because I don't think you want your husband to die," he said. "You look like someone who wants to change this place, but don't have the power to do so. You're afraid. Afraid that you'll lose. Usually I would've hated that kind of attitude. But I didn't. Maybe because it reminded me of myself. When I wanted to change, but didn't because I was afraid. Afraid of falling even farther down. Even if I was already at rock bottom."

"So it's pity," she said.

"You could say that," Lin replied. "But pity or not, I'm your only shot at saving your husband, the townsfolk and yourself. So I'd suggest you take it."

He stopped for a second, and said, "Plus, I don't plan on fighting without any sort of backup this time."

Silence once again. But this time, it was quickly interrupted by the light hearted laughter of Ava which resounded throughout the room.
