Bab 1: Chapter 1

In the dark room, the tooth-sickening sound of metal rubbing could be heard.

Two strong white men in guard uniforms pushed open the iron door, dragging a hospital bed as they slowly walked into the room.

Lying on the hospital bed was a teenager with an Asian face. His hands and feet were tightly bound by leather buckles, leaving him unable to move. He could only barely turn his head to observe the environment around him.

The room was dark and narrow, with an operating table in the middle. Judging from the filthy curtain and the rusty operating lamp hanging above, it was obvious that this place was far from any standard an operating room should meet. A faint smell of blood and mildew lingered in the air, for anyone who dared breathe deeply enough to notice.

Next to the operating table stood a man in a tattered white coat, casually fiddling with the medical equipment and instruments beside him, as if preparing for something.

"Damn it…"

Seeing the man, Noah Clover's heart sank to the bottom.

With guards far stronger than himself on either side, Noah had no strength to resist. They lifted him effortlessly and threw him onto the operating table, leaving him lying flat like a lamb waiting to be slaughtered.

"Welcome back, little mouse."

The man in the white coat finally turned around, his cold, indifferent eyes locking onto Noah's.

"It's still the same question: Why did you show up at our research institute? None of our guards or monitors spotted you. How did you manage that?"

Noah remained silent. He had no idea how to answer. How could he explain something as outlandish as time travel? Especially not to the man who called himself Ajax.

But Noah knew the truth—this man wasn't really named Ajax. It was a fake identity, a lie. His real name was Francis.

The same Francis from the movie Deadpool.

Yes, the place Noah was trapped in now was the same research facility from the movie—the one where Wade Wilson had been tortured and mutated.

---

As a time traveler, Noah had been in this world for over two months. Compared to some bizarre tales of traveling, Noah's transition had been almost absurdly simple. One moment, he had been at home playing video games, and the next, he was here, in this sinister facility.

He hadn't even had time to grasp what was happening before the patrolling guards found him and knocked him unconscious.

When Noah woke up, he was already strapped to an operating table, being injected with some unknown substance by the man in the white coat. There had been no time to resist. He was utterly powerless.

What followed was a nightmare of brutal interrogation and torture.

They beat him with iron rods, simulated drowning, suffocated him, exposed him to extreme heat, and soaked him in freezing cold water. Noah couldn't remember how many times he had survived such barbaric treatment.

Every so often, the guards dragged him back into this operating room, where Francis always awaited him with some new method of torment. The intensity escalated with each session.

The torture only ended when Noah's body couldn't bear any more, or when he passed out from the pain. But the respite was temporary. The next time, it would all begin again, in new, more horrific ways.

Again and again, over and over, the torturous cycle repeated itself.

By now, Noah had been subjected to every conceivable form of torment, living a life worse than death.

And he knew, deep down, that even if he confessed everything, it would make no difference. This facility was a dark, hidden place where no one came out alive. He wasn't the only victim here—every "patient" was just another experimental subject, another prisoner.

Through these agonizing days, Noah had come to realize one undeniable truth: in this institute, the only outcome waiting for him was death.

If he wanted to survive, his only chance was to escape.

---

Francis waited for a moment, but Noah still didn't answer. His eyes grew colder.

"It seems you're still not ready to tell the truth… That's fine. We have plenty of time."

With that, Francis pushed the instrument cart closer to Noah, his cold eyes gleaming as he prepared for the next round of torture.

His fingers were stained with an unknown liquid, and he began to spread it evenly on Noah Clover's temples.

As if wanting to crush Noah's spirit, Francis spoke slowly while fiddling with him: "In the next few days, your body will be continuously connected to AC, but don't worry—the voltage won't kill you. At most… it'll just make you feel incredibly painful and uncomfortable."

Seeing the metal needles in Francis's hands, Noah's heart skipped a beat.

Was this guy really going to electrocute him?

"Wait!"

Under the pressure of the situation, Noah finally spoke.

Francis immediately assumed that his intimidation had worked. He sneered down at Noah, saying, "I'll give you one last chance. Tell me, who are you?"

"My identity…"

Noah's mind was racing. He couldn't tell the truth, but he couldn't exactly say something ridiculous like claiming to be a Saiyan either. Who knew if Dragon Ball existed in this world?

With no other choice, Noah decided to bluff. "It's… complicated."

Francis frowned, sensing that there might be more to Noah's identity than he first thought.

"Go on," Francis pressed, growing impatient.

Noah mentally braced himself and decided to keep the charade going. "How do I put this? I can't explain everything I know, and there's no point in telling you what I don't understand. It's better if you don't ask any more questions. The situation is deep—there's a lot at play here. Let's just say it's above your pay grade."

Francis furrowed his brow, carefully analyzing Noah's vague explanation. Yet, in the end, he couldn't make sense of any useful information.

"So, your identity is…?"

"I understand what I know, and it's pointless for me to explain what I don't. Got it?"

"…"

Francis's smirk froze. What did he just hear?

Was that all just nonsense?

In the end, Noah hadn't told him a single useful thing.

Realizing that Noah had no intention of confessing, Francis's expression darkened. "Very well. I hope you keep your sense of humor when you leave here."

Without further words, Francis lifted the metal needle and moved toward Noah's temple...

---

After an unknown amount of time, Noah slowly opened his eyes.

The operating room, the source of so much pain, was gone. In its place was a spacious hall.

Through the dim light, Noah could make out rows of hospital beds. Lying on them were people in white gowns, their faces wearing expressions of despair or numbness. The air was thick with the sound of constant wailing and screaming. A feeling of utter hopelessness filled the room.

"Ugh…"

As consciousness returned, a sharp, searing pain surged through Noah's body.

He groaned, cold sweat pouring from his forehead, his face twisting in agony.

"Damn it, Francis really went all out this time," Noah muttered through gritted teeth.

It felt as though thousands of ants were gnawing at his body, the result of being connected to high-frequency biological electric currents. The intense electrical stimulation had caused severe damage to his muscles and nerves, inflicting a pain that was almost unbearable, like being set on fire from within.

If Noah hadn't grown somewhat accustomed to the constant torture over these past few weeks, he likely would have cried out in agony right then and there.

But despite the excruciating pain, Noah forced himself to think. "This should be enough time…"

Suppressing the maddening torment, Noah steeled his mind.

With a thought, a simple character panel appeared in his mind.

[Player: Noah Clover]

[Gender: Male]

[Age: 18]

[Talent: None]

The character panel was from a mobile game Noah used to play before he traveled to this world.

Danganronpa: Super High School-Level Talent Development Program.

It was the latest mobile game from the popular Danganronpa franchise. Unlike the original game's murder mystery narrative, this mobile version focused on a lighter, more casual style of character development and talent cultivation. By completing achievement tasks, players could unlock various super high school-level talents, allowing them to nurture a character into something resembling a demigod—an extraordinary being with all talents.

When Noah traveled to this world, the game had come with him.

And right now, it was his only hope for escaping this nightmare!
