This place is truly beautiful, with the soothing sun and the tranquil nature buzzing with the sounds proclaiming the miracle of life. Even though I'm aware that I'm in a strange situation, I can't help but close my eyes, relax my entire body, and just enjoy what the world has always had to offer the most beautiful. I wake up several hours later with a pain in my stomach and the sound of it begging me to find something to eat.
Easier said than done when you're a baby abandoned in a crib in the middle of the forest, and the fact that just the day before yesterday I was a full-grown adult doesn't help much. How on earth am I going to get out of this? It's not a dream; as bizarre as the situation is, it's real, I'm convinced now. I try to move a bit to at least see what's around me, I'm only aware of what's above me.
To my surprise, I manage to stand up. Despite my hunger and young age, I feel full of energy.
This situation is becoming increasingly strange. I manage to rise a bit by leaning on the edge of my crib, and in doing so, my foot hits something. I look down and see that my blanket seems to be hiding something quite large. I stretch my little baby arms, and after precisely three tries, I lift the blanket a bit. I see something light blue with lots of flame-shaped patterns.
It looks like a magnificent sculpture. No doubt, it's absolutely beautiful.
'A treasure...' i tought.
'My parents abandoned me here, with the destiny either to die of hunger, be eaten by some carnivore, but on the bright side of things, I have a treasure..." Angry, I lie back down and contemplate what awaits me when night falls in a few minutes.
After a few minutes of reflection, I come to the very pertinent conclusion that I will probably also die from the cold...
I pull the blanket towards me with my little arms, thankfully it's not far away, and I try to fall asleep. Whatever happens on this probably last night, I would like to be at least inconscious to not witness it. Luckily, I fall asleep very easily, a baby advantage, I suppose.
But I wake up in the morning with a pain in my stomach and the accompanying noise.
"Either my death will be even longer, or it's my chance to find civilization," this thought crosses my mind before remembering that I am a baby only a few days old.
"Moreover, why am I not dead yet? Any other baby would have passed away long ago." I pondered this mystery for a few minutes before giving up and attributing it to the bizarre situation. With a bit of determination, I stand up even more easily than yesterday, causing my crib to shake.
"What the..." but my thoughts are interrupted by the sight of the treasure that has been uncovered. I look for a few seconds before coming to the conclusion:
"It's a fruit." A very strange fruit with dozens of small blue flame-like patterns and golden branches on top, resembling a pineapple.
I look at it with doubt; it's a very strange fruit, maybe even poisoned.
"But it seems familiar; I'm sure I've seen it somewhere..." probably in a documentary or an illustrated book, I trust my instinct, and given that I have absolutely no other choice, I manage to pick it up. This would be impossible for a baby of my age, but I attribute it to all the peculiarities. I bring it to my little mouth and take a bite, feeling its texture in my palate, or rather, in my gums.
'?' I'm confused before realizing, 'I don't have teeth...' I start to get the feeling that fate is not only against me; it must be a hidden camera somewhere a this point. I thought with amusement.
I ponder for a moment and come up with a solution.
Rethinking all the things I can do, I figure I might be able to crush the fruit a bit to drink the juice. I sit down and place the fruit between my two legs, also provided by a penis by the way.
"Thank goodness," I sigh, recalling the relief I felt when I checked yesterday. I manage to secure the fruit between my legs and use both hands to press one end at the top of the fruit.
And I succeed. Luckily, I press it just enough for only a bit of juice to come onto my small hands, and nothing is wasted by falling. I bring my hand to my mouth, praying that I don't have any dangerous bacteria on my hands. With a baby's immune system, a newborn can easily succumb to an illness.
Out of respect for a tradition as old as the world, I suck my thumb first. As soon as the liquid touches my palate, I spit out it back, standing up abruptly, hitting the side of my crib, and falling to the ground.
I don't care in the slightest about the slight pain in my body, and I start to spit and drool as much as I can without actually vomiting due to my empty stomach. The taste is not just horrible; it surpasses the boundaries of what is humanly possible.
After a few minutes of only managing to spit out air, I rise from the ground without much difficulty. I turn around and see the fruit disappearing...?
The part I pressed has vanished, and the rest of the fruit is gradually becoming ethereal, dispersing in the wind.
Before I can even be confused, information appears directly in my head. I have just eaten a Tori Tori no Mi Model: Phoenix, a fruit that grants me the abilities of a mythological being: the phoenix.
I take a few seconds to reflect and come to the conclusion: 'I am no longer in my original world...'
