[Helios's POV]
Helios could hear the sound of police sirens from inside the black car that he was sitting in. He could also hear the sound of rotating blades of a helicopter that could belong to a news station but also could be from the police department.
He looked at the small window that separates the passenger seats in the back from the driver's seat. He could see that they were approaching Whitestone Bridge, and yet no police cars were blockading the bridge.
"Where are we going anyway?" Helios asked casually. "The police could easily spot you, you're bringing a whole entourage for god's sake."
"They won't dare touch us." the man near the window sneered. "We have bombs below this car kid, if the police attack us, it will blow up."
Helios went quiet for a second, before asking again. "And you're not scared of dying?"
The two men in the car laughed out loud as they heard Helios's question. "A bomb can't kill us." he said, his hands glowing orange. "So of course we're not scared."
Helios just hummed. "Based on what you saw, you know I can't be killed by a bomb too, right?"
"But she can." said the man beside Hansen, shoving her head using a gun.
Helios only sighed at the answer as he dropped the matter right then and there. He closed his eyes once again to take a rest, only to hear a loud air horn sound, piercing his ears.
"What the hell?" said the man near the driver seat, banging the wall that separates them. "What's happened?"
"A crazy woman's standing in the middle of the road!" The driver defended himself. "She wants to kill herself or something, this woman's insane!"
The driver continued to blow the car's horn on the woman, who was blocking the road, right in the middle of the Brooklyn Bridge.
Helios quickly woke up as a flash of excitement could be seen in his eyes. His grin turned wide, and he moved away from the centre of the car.
The sound of the car's horn kept echoing throughout the bridge, trying to make the woman away from the path.
"She's still there?!" the man besides Helios asked again, banging on the car's window.
"She definitely wants to kill herself!" the driver complained. "Fine, we'll give her that."
"No need." the man beside Helios said as he loaded his gun with a bullet. "I'll kill her myself."
The man then opened the side window of the car and got half of his body outside of it.
"HEY LADY! GET OUT OF THE WAY!" he shouted angrily. "I'LL SHOOT IF YOU DON'T!"
The car kept moving even though the lady was still standing in the middle of the road, and the lady ignored the man's words.
"Hey! Something's wrong!" the driver suddenly exclaimed. "Her hand's... glowing?"
As the driver noticed that the lady's hand was glowing, he could hear gunshots from the side as the man started shooting.
The echoes of gunpowder explosions from the guns could be heard by the reporters in the sky that is reporting the event live on TV, and the reporter instantly jumped to comment on the sound.
"It seems that there is an active gunfight in the middle of this car entourage, but we can't see any police or— wait a minute, it seems that there is a woman standing in the middle of the bridge!"
The woman signalled the cameraman to zoom in on the woman, and now, they could see what the woman's doing.
In the camera view, the cameraman could see that the woman was holding a golden transparent shield, with bullet sparks hitting it repeatedly. The woman had cold eyes, and she seemed to not be disturbed by the gunfire at all.
"What is that shield?" the reporter commented curiously.
Meanwhile, the man that was peeking out of the car kept firing at her, but it didn't work, and it frustrated him.
"Fuck this, I'm using the grenade launcher." he grumbled. He switched his AR to grenade launcher mode, loaded it with the grenade, and aimed at the woman.
"What are you doing?! We're passing the bridge! You want to blow us up!?" the driver complained.
The man didn't care however, and he pulled the trigger. The grenade passed through the air, zipping to the woman, before hitting the shield directly.
Instantly, the sound of an explosion could be heard from the middle of the bridge, the metal ropes shook, and the shockwaves could be seen with a naked eye.
"You're dead now." the man clicked his tongue, still a bit annoyed that it took longer than he had expected.
But then, between the smoke and dust that covered the middle part of the bridge, something suddenly launched through the air. The momentum of that 'something' dispersed the smoke and dust instantly, and that thing was heading towards the car in front.
"Oh shit!" the driver cursed, seeing the glowing thing that was coming towards the car. Before he could warn the man behind, he could hear a *bang* sound from the side of the car.
"Eric!" the man beside Hansen shouted frantically.
The man that was at the window, or 'Eric', was now lifeless, impaled by a golden spear, and his body was now stuck at the window, dangling flaccidly.
"How the fuck—" the man besides Hansen was about to curse, but then the driver cut him off.
"Watch out!" The driver slammed on the brakes as he saw the woman that was only around 20 metres in front of the car suddenly holding a giant axe, ready to 'slice' the car.
The driver knew it was humanly impossible to slice a car open with an axe like that, but he felt that this woman could slice it easily.
And how right he is.
The car was now on the verge of hitting the woman, but the woman didn't move. Instead, she slammed the axe to the ground, and the edge of the axe was moving like a chainsaw.
"FUCK!"
The car didn't stop correctly, and it slammed directly into the axe. A screeching sound could be instantly heard from the metal hitting the axe, and the bomb that is below the car triggered.
Helios, seeing the opportunity, quickly kicked the man beside Hansen and covered himself and Hansen using his golden barrier. As the car was quickly being sliced into two, Helios, who was now protected by the barrier along with Hansen, saw his mother, standing right in the middle, with her axe in front of her.
Helios could feel that his world view had suddenly become much slower than before. He could see his mother's eyes staring at him casually, and a smug smile on her face. The explosion was quickly expanding, and he could see the shockwave coming towards his mother and himself, but he wasn't worried at all.
After all, his mother is the Goddess of War.
—
"Oh my god!" The reporter in the sky couldn't believe what she just saw. The hostage car had just exploded because of a strange woman who sliced the car in half, and the rest of the entourage stopped abruptly.
The reporter could see the burning sliced car being thrown to the side, hitting a couple of cars that made them crash into each other. The rest of the entourage quickly surrounded the woman, with their rifles pointed at her.
"As we can see… right now… the cars have stopped to surround the mysterious woman that made the hostage car explode…" the reporter took a deep breath to calm herself and tried to comment on the event. "W-We have no confirmation yet that the— wait… ladies and gentlemen, I just heard from a source that the snipers have confirmed that the hostages are still alive, I repeat, the hostages are still alive! It's a miracle!"
—
Helios was now laying on the ground, the smell of gasoline and oil hit his nostrils and it made him a bit dizzy. He and Hansen are still covered with the barrier, and he could see that his mother is surrounded by a bunch of masked men with guns, shouting at her to surrender. Helios then turned around to see Hansen massaging her head, trying to sit up.
"Miss Hansen, don't get up." Helios whispered. "Are you alright?"
"T-Theodore?" she stuttered. "I'm alright… oh god… it's a miracle I'm still alive…"
"You won't be if you keep talking loudly." Helios warned. "Don't move, play dead."
Hansen just nodded. "I-Is that Mrs. Smith?" she asked, a bit confused.
Helios didn't answer, instead, he slowly stood up, making Hansen panic.
"W-What are you—"
"Stay down." Helios hissed, covering Hansen's mouth with his hand. He crouched to avoid detection and approached the crowd in front of him. The men were shouting at his mother rather vulgarly, calling her words that Gwen probably doesn't know the meaning yet.
"I'll say it again bitch, who are you?!" the leader of the men roared, pointing his pistol at Thena.
Thena just stared at the man, a bit amused by his antiques. She then took a step, making the men around her flinch.
Meanwhile, Helios kept approaching the crowd, silently summoning a thin armour to protect himself. He then walked towards a man in the back, trying to knock him unconscious. He stood up, his hand already in position to hit the back of the man's head.
"That's not how you do it, Helios." a lazy voice came from his mother, making him freeze, and all of the men turned towards him, their red lasers pointing at his head. "Don't hesitate, kill them, They kidnapped you after all."
Helios clicked his tongue. "Seriously, mom?! I almost had him!"
Thena raised her eyebrow in amusement as she hummed. In less than a second, she summoned a sword and a shield again, instantly decapitating the man in front of her.
Helios's eyes widened as he saw the blood that was gushing from the decapitated corpse. In his heart, he doesn't really feel anything except some kind of discomfort, but what disturbs him most is the fact that his mother is capable of doing something like that...
I mean, he knows she's capable, just...
She's not going to do something like that to him... right?
Right, of course she won't.
Right?
His thoughts were instantly broken as many gunshot sounds entered his ears, their direction heading towards him and his mother. As soon as the bullet hit him, he could only hear the sound of metal clashing against metal, as the bullet had hit his conjured armour.
"Do you really have to do that like that mom?" he whined loudly, carefully dodging the bullets, even though he's practically secure inside his thin armour.
"Like what?" she questioned casually, slicing a man in half as the fight is now full on melee, because the men realised that bullets won't work.
Helios jumped into the air, floating above all the men. He just sighed and said 'never mind' to his mother, and he summoned a bunch of swords behind him, before launching them at the men below. The swords quickly penetrated most of them, but the men simply didn't care, as if it did nothing to them.
"Can't you see Helios?" Thena commented rather sternly, summoning a hammer and slamming it on a man's head. "They have healing factors, so target their heads instead. It's based on Hansen's Extremis virus, so if there's no brain, they can't heal anymore."
"Right…" Helios murmured. His eyes then quickly glowed golden. Constructs of rifles appeared behind him. He aimed them at each of their heads, and 'pulled' the trigger.
A barrage of golden bullets quickly enveloped the streets, with the men quickly falling one by one, their brains leaking from their heads, and blood running through the streets.
"Ugh, gross…" Helios shivered, and he could see that his mother's clothing was drenched in blood. "How do you even wash that?"
"You don't." she said casually, nailing her spear to the ground. She then turned around, only to see armoured cars labelled 'SWAT' rushing towards the scene. The sound of police sirens started to get louder and louder, and Thena could only sighed at the scene. "I guess I went too far this time…"
"Too far?" Helios raised his brow, still floating in the air. He then pointed at the sky, where the helicopter is. "You sliced a car into two pieces in front of the news! I almost got killed!"
Thena narrowed her eyes sharply to Helios. "Who told you to talk to your mother like that?"
"But am I wrong though?" Helios threw back with a challenging tone, but secretly scared of his life.
Thena squinted her eyes even further, but eventually sighed. "Go and help Hansen, we need to get out of here."
'OH!' Helios was overjoyed as his mother changed the topic, but that joy was quickly crushed when he heard her next words.
"After this, I'm taking your Warsword figures or whatever they're called," she said coldly as she approached the bridge's edge."And you're grounded, I did not teach you to talk to me like that."
Helios cursed silently, regretting what he had already said. "It's Warhammer figures..."
"What?"
"Nothing, mom..."
But then, Helios could hear his father's voice again in his mind, and his mother probably could hear it also.
[Go to Greenwich, I'll meet you at 177A Bleecker Street, be there in 30 minutes]
He could hear his mother humming as she stared at the approaching police cars again. She turned to his son and said, "Let's go, I'll point you to the direction, bring Hansen and drop her to the hospital first."
Helios sighed tiredly as his eyes glow golden again, this time, making his mother and Hansen also float. "Yes mom…"
While Hansen was freaking out, Helios made a reflective barrier around them, and they flew towards Greenwich.
