Bab 9: Chapter 9: He’s My Only Savior

Alicia’s POV

I’m sitting on the steps of the back deck with a book in my hands, enjoying the lovely day. I took it upon myself to borrow a book from Adrian’s shelves as a source of entertainment. But after the steamy make-out session with Adrian last night, I haven’t been able to focus properly all day.

All I can think about is the feeling of his lips against mine and the way his hair tickled my skin as it brushed against me.

I still can’t believe it happened—especially after how he’s been treating me as of late. But when he pulled away and tried to get as far away from me as he could, I could see the emotional turmoil and battle raging behind his eyes.

He really is trying to fight our mate bond on principle, because he thinks he has to hate me for what my pack did—supposedly—all those years ago. I almost feel bad for him.
