I heard the helicopter and wanted to see what was happening, even though I knew we were hidden under the masking spell over our pack's

area. I recognized that I'd been isolating myself lately. It was the price I had to pay, to avoid the scared or judgmental looks like the ones I'd just received.

With many women and kids staying inside the house, my room was usually my only available escape. As I walked by the living room on the way to my room, I realized that for once, it was empty. I went in and closed the sliding double doors. I would probably have it to myself for a while now. Once they smelled me in here, no one else would want to come in.

This led to another question. Why has my scent changed?
