It was a warm Sunday morning and all the kids at the daycare were playing outside in the playground.
Rosie Morriss was all alone in the sandbox when she smelled something sweet coming from behind her.
She got up on wobbly legs and dusted her hands off. She walked toward the smell and stopped in front of a small boy.
The boy was playing in the dirt alone too.
Rosie sat down next to him and tapped him on the shoulder. The boy looked up, he had pretty green eyes Rosie thought.
"Yes?" His voice reminder her of colorful rainbows. She was so caught in him that accidenlty blurted out what came out next.
"I think I'm your mate."
He started giggling, "Nope. Wrong person." He ran away to the other kids at the slide.
Rosie felt sad as the sweet smell drifted away from her. She started to cry for what she couldn't have.
Her mother came running asking what was wrong. Rosie couldn't answer in her sadness.
The mother grabbed her other child Jordan and walked to her car. Intending to cheer Rosie up no matter what.
