Bab 33: The Favour
His eyes lustfully scanned her seductive body once again. "I thought you were gonna ask why I wanted you over", Adrian smirked.
"Oh yeah. I wasn't informed my boss was desperate to have me to himself", she scoffed.
Zoey could hear him growl to himself. She gasped as he pulled her waist closer, staring deeply into her eyes. "How well can you resist me, huh?", he voiced out in a husky tone. His steamy breathe danced on her lips as he spoke.
"I- I..., she blinked countlessly. 'Kiss me, please', she screamed loudly in her head.
"You can't even move a bone, poor Zoey!", he giggled as he loosened his grip. She didn't find it funny as he did. She was dumbstruck.
"I'm leaving", Zoey whimpered as she made her way to the doorpost. She just knew she couldn't stand him for another second. Who knows, maybe embarrassed? mixed feelings? Unending questions flooding her mind.
Why did she let her boss touch her? Why was she getting attached to him? Why was he so attractive to resist? She couldn't begin to see him differently, other than her deadly prey.
She couldn't lose focus whereas he was messing up with her mind. Getting intimate with her boss wasn't the right thing to do. But how easy was that gonna be?
He traced his steps back to his swivel chair and sat down comfortably. "Walk out through the door and forfeit your job proposal, Zoey", he grinned daringly. 'Wtf!', she said inaudibly. Well, that was all he could think of to stop her.
That was something she could never do. She needed to keep the job. She couldn't take chances to risk her mission. She pulled to a halt and turned back to face him. "What do you want from me, please?", she cried.
"I don't think you're ever gonna understand, Zoey", his voice broke down. "There's only one thing I wish for-
She could read his eyes, already knowing what it was.
"...happiness", he exhaled hard. "Everyone deserves to be happy, right?", his teary eyes gazed at her. A tear ran down her cheek seeing him sober. But why did she seem to care?
She wiped her tears, "Yes, but never trust anyone on it...". She walked up to his desk and continued. "...Happiness only lies within your heart", she tried her best to bring in motivation.
Adrian broke out in a shaky voice. "Then, what happens when you can't love yourself anymore? You're still gonna be happy, pretending that everything is fine? Or ruin people's emotions trying to mend your broken heart?".
"I beg, don't say further", Zoey cried out as she ran over and pulled her arms around him. Her heart was moved by his words as they made her deeply emotional. He was still hurt by his past.
"I just need someone...", he paused. "...someone that can understand my emotions, Zoey. Please do me this favour", he begged. Her gaze fell to the ground as she disengaged the hug. Silence stirred up in the atmosphere.
She knew she wasn't the right person. She was only gonna rip him apart and inflict more pains in his heart. And after everything, she was gonna leave his lonely world and start up a new life. Things couldn't work out.
She stood at a distance from him. "I-I can't help you. I'm sorry", she mumbled with a few steps backwards. "Please-
She interrupted. "No, I can't", she couldn't help it as she ran out through his office door in tears.
