Bab 138: 138 - From the ashes

Daemon gave Evelyn the time to calm down. He turned back to the scenery, his eyes hiding the thoughts going through his mind, like the unknown depths of a lake.

When Evelyn finally regained some of her bearing, her emotions calmer, she looked at the profile of the man she loved, and for the first time, she noticed some obvious things.

The height difference between them was different from before. While her skin remained fair, his had become a little more tanned. His physique was also more developed, something she had appreciated before without taking the time to think about. And those were just changes visible outside, because what life tended to change the most was the heart, and the mind.

"What are you trying to say, Daemon?"

The question was asked with some trepidation she didn't know she was failing to keep at bay, because she was afraid. She was afraid that the last few months had been an illusion, a fantasy, and she was afraid it might shatter.
