William's frustration boiled over, his clenched fists trembling as he pounded on his thighs. The dull, lifeless sensation only deepened his despair. How could he protect Anna if he couldn't even stand?

He had warned her time and time again not to involve herself in his quest for justice, but Anna was as stubborn as she was brave. Now, she was missing, and every hour that passed without word felt like an eternity.

His thoughts were consumed by guilt and fear. What if she had been captured? What if she was hurt—or worse?

"Your Majesty," a hesitant voice interrupted his turmoil. It was his valet. His face bore the weariness of sleepless nights, but his resolve was unwavering.

"There's been no word yet," he admitted, his voice soft, but firm. "But they will find her. You mustn't lose hope, sire ."
