"Has Kano returned from Ogan with the boy?" The king asked
"He had sent a messenger when you were in a meeting." One of his advisers had replied "Kano returned to the capital with the boy and has already head to the port."
"Alright, see to it that the boy gets all he needs." The king ordered
The adviser left the room to relay the king's message.
Irinos was a powerful force on the island of Arinatius but Cambria out shined them in everything except it's navy. Irino's navy was the largest on the island, consisting of two hundred ships made from a special wood only found in it's borders. Being built on a superior military, Cambria never bothered to fund a naval force of it's own but they found a workaround. During wartime, Cambria pays pirates located on smaller islands for fight their battles on the water.
"Kid, do you know why the King has called for you?" Kano asked
"No." the kid answered
"Well, some people saw you do an amazing thing back in Ogan." Kano explained "The king would like you to hone your abilities and assist the navy."
This kid was to young to care about a request from the king, where his wonder came was from coming to the capital and seeing it's ships. After a few days of travelling, their carriage had finally reached the port of Rundine and was ready to meet with the man who would be training the boy.
"Excuse me, I'm looking for captain Peak." Kano asked
The man working on his ship pointed towards a bar frequented by sailors called the bell house. The bar was larger enough to hold most of the sailors at the port at any given time but was a frequent hub for fights between navy officers and regular sailors or even between themselves.
"Follow me." Kano told the kid ""He'll should be with his squad, so they should be visible."
They entered the bar and was immediately met with a small fight spilling through the door and the other men egging them on.
"This happens all the time." kano shouted "Help me look for a group of men in black"
The first and second floors were the same, filled the men fighting, drinking and laughing but the third floor was different, the men on that floor were all sitting at their tables and keeping to themselves and that's where they found him.
"Captain Peak, I presume." Kano said pulling a chair towards the table
August Peak was the commander of the Infamous 8th fleet or know casually as the "Gliders" for their quick approaches to battle. The gliders, composed of 10 ships, attack their enemies by burning their sails using blaming arrows and boarding the stationary ship and engaging in close quarters combat.
The men at the table all stopped what they were doing and glared at Kano for interrupting their fun.
"And who might you be?" said the man in the corner
The man's face was lit only by a small candle on the table, showing his tanned face and grey hair.
"My name is Kano and I've been tasked to find you and ask you to train this boy." He said
He took a look at the boy, sipped his drink and then started to chuckle.
"We were looking for someone to clean the ship." one of the seamen shouted with the others following with laughter
"I'm not even sure he could last one battle with the pirates." Peak added
Sailors of his caliber were proud of their position and wanted only the best to board their ships knowing that those people would be watching his back. Having a child on board be the weakest link could be the downfall of the crew and lead them to their deaths.
"I understand your apprehension but the one's potential is untapped but vast that's why he was chosen." Kano pleaded
"You know what I'll give him a chance." Peak replied "I'll take him on my ship for a week and see how he does."
This was exactly what the boy needed, within this week he was almost guaranteed to show some part of the power given to him.
