I blink a few times to see if this was real and to my surprise, it was. I glance towards Viggo's office door to see if he had heard but, I didn't hear anything except their hushed conversation. Making sure nobody was around, I take a step forward and then another, till I was half-way there.
My head was dizzy with all the voices speaking in it. What should I do? Should I alert Viggo and Ryker? Do I sound an alarm? Do I kill it? I take a look at the dragon's white colour and decide that I should go alarm the two. They'd know what to do.
Peering at the night fury curiously, I decide to take a small risk. I got on the ground, crouching before it as a low growl escaped its throat. Its eyes narrows and follows my movements, as I cautiously observe the wing.
I glance at Viggo's door again, but there was no sign of him coming out. Hesitantly, I run my fingertips on the dragons soft wing, it flinched of course, as I tried to calm it. I move towards the door and softly unlock the key with a swift movement.
It made a clang that echoed through air. I flinch , there was no way Ryker didn't hear that. I wait a few seconds before softly opened the door. It squeaked open and the dragon's wing retreated to its side.
I smile as it gave a soft purr. Glimpsing behind the dragon I saw that it was a female.
" What are you doing Imora ?" Viggo's cold voice rang into the cold air. My heart stops as I look at him hoping he didn't catch me in my act. I didn't want to disappoint him, if anything I want to make him proud just once.
Viggo wasn't the one to get impressed by brawn, but rather with logic and wit, and he was the exact one that was almost impossible to outwit. I shakily stood and collected myself. " I was uh looking at the stars but a rat caught my attention." I lie.
Ryker appeared behind Viggo and seemed to take the bait, but I was scared Viggo would see through it. To my surprise he nodded." Mmmm well , make sure you get enough sleep you'll need it. And please don't make unnecessary panic." He mused with a tone of slight humor.
I smile and nod." Night." " Night." Both of them repeated and went to their chambers. The boat rocked gently when a small wave hit. As soon as Ryker closed his door, I spun around in search for the dragon.
What just happened? Didn't he see the dragon? I scan the deck for any sign of a dragon but there were none. I scrunch my brow in a mixture of shock and confusion. That's odd...I look to where the dragon was last, which, was in fact, right in front of me.
The white scaled dragon appeared in front of me when I came to the conclusion that it flew off. My adrenaline rushed to my ears in a hot pursuit to escape. But I didn't move, I didn't dare. The blue eyes of the dragon looked into mine and I into them.

For once in my life it felt like time stopped, like it didn't exist at all. The blue eyes mirrored myself and my worries just....faded. Her pupils expanded and I was so fascinated by the complexity of colours when I saw something else. Something I tried forgetting ...
All the times Ryker had beaten me in a match in front of the tribe. All the times Viggo outsmarted me in Maces and Talons. And the time both of my brothers were selected to be leaders for the hunters because I was too young and inexperienced.
A felt an invisible pain clawed at my chest and I knew this feeling well. The feeling that no matter what you do, you will never be enough. You will always be inferior in the eyes of someone you so desperately want to prove your worth to.
In my case, Viggo, Ryker and my father who thought I was too young. I never really knew my mother ...My eyes stung from oncoming tears but I held it back. Still the pain didn't subside. All my life I've mocked and raised as a child.
So when I finally got the mark of the hunters, I only got a nod from my father. It may seem little but to me it felt like I just conquered the world. As for my brothers they never really showed affection unless you count a pat on the back here and there.
But even if I trained countless hours on tactics and sword-man skills, I would never be able to beat Ryker. As for Viggo , he would always outsmart me somehow. So I depended on my mischief, mimicking Loki the trickster god, I was always able to worm myself out in difficult of times.
I also depended on manipulation to get what I want. Although I want to prove myself, I still loved my brothers dearly. I just wanted to prove I'm worthy not only to my family but to my tribe as well. But no matter how hard I tried, how hard I thought or fought I would never be able to outshine them.
The tears fell down my cheek slowly as lower my gaze to the wooden ground. I hear a pitiful purring sound coming from the dragon. I glance up see her head tilted to the side. I quickly wipe of any sign of tears."Sorry ..." I apologise in a whisper.
Seeming to understand me she nudges her head into my chest. Shocked at the action, I freeze and look at her expectantly. I hesitated. Then reluctantly, I raised my hand in front of her face and squeeze my eyes shut fearing the worst. A few seconds past with me regretting my choice, then I heard movement.

Instead of the pain I thought I would feel, I felt cool scaley skin pressing against my hand. For some reason it felt like she could talk and understand me. I look in her direction slowly afraid fast movements will scare her.
What I saw I couldn't believe. Her snout was pressed up against my palm and her eyes closed in trust. Deliberately, she moved away from my hand and opened up her eyes. She didn't look like beast, no she looked like creature with a heart.
Suddenly, without warning she licked my face clean in one try. I smile. Somehow a dragon hunter saved a dragon. " What should I call you?" I mutter under my breath. She used one of her paws to knock me to the ground playfully.
I giggled. " What about...." I look around the clearing finding nothing to name a dragon then , a name popped into my head. " Destiny?" I mummer.
She seem to react on the name so I guess its a perfect fit. " Destiny it is." I nod with satisfaction. But then a voice asked in my head; How are you going to care for her? Good question. An idea struck me. " Destiny? Can you come before sunset to Melody island?" I whisper.
She made a purr sound as I escaped her paw. " I'll take that as a yes." I smile. She nudged me again but I evaded her paw. " See you soon?" I spoke in a low voice. She weirdly nodded and licked me again.
It was stinky and sticky but I didn't dare shake it off for the sake of trust. She walked to the edge of the boat and flew of to Thor knows where. I shake the last bit of saliva off and head towards my chamber. The gravity of the situation didn't seem to set in yet ...plus I would clean myself in the morning so it would be no big deal.
Walking past Viggo's chamber door I heard hushed voices. Curiously, I pressed my ear up against the door and listen intently. I couldn't make out most of the conversation but I did hear this;
" Do you really think she is to be trusted?"
