As time seemed to slow to a crawl, William, with a heart heavy with longing, lowered his head towards Dahlia's. She, in turn, closed her eyes in sweet anticipation of the kiss that was about to envelop them in a world of their own making. Their lips, only an inch away, were on the verge of a meeting that held the promise of unraveling their desires, when suddenly, the cry of a child pierced the air, shattering the fragile cocoon of their moment.
