Bab 8: Team Rocket Is Annoying
The next day you can see Liam touring around Cerulean City. He goes to the Pokemart to stock up on supplies and then heads to the Cerulean gym. On his way, he runs into Gary. "Hey Gary, how are you doing, "Liam said, but then Gary smirks and says, "better than you hurry up and take out your Pokemon so we can have a battle." "Same old Gary fight first talk later, no problem. I can use you as practice before I go challenge the gym."
Gary summons a Pidgeotto, and Shadow comes out, causing Gary to smile because he was finally facing a strong opponent. Shadow Thundershock Liam orders, and Gary tells Pidgeotto to dodge, so he flies up, but the thundershock all of sudden changes direction and hits Pidgeotto causing him to faint. Gary is shocked to see one of his strongest passes out after one attack.
Gary returns his Pidgeotto and summons Rattata and quickly orders a Quick Attack, then Liam also says Quick Attack, and they both run into each other. Still, the shadow doesn't budge. On the other hand, Rattata is pushed back to Gary, making Gary frown. "Rattata used Bite" he rushes to Shadow to try and bite him, sending a projector of some fangs towards Shadow, but Shadow smirks and throws his Bite, which is bigger and more potent than Rattatas causing him to cower in fear, but he gets hit and faints.
Liam than says "next" with a smirk causing Gary to grind his teeth in anger. Gary was going to bring out Abra, but after seeing that bite attack, he changed his mind and sent out Squirtle." Squirtle Water Gun", Liam laughs and uses Water Pulse hitting Squirtle and confusing him. Gary tries to get him out of it by shouting his name, but he's so out of it, so Shadow used Thundershock to finish him.
Gary just rolls his eyes and says," Liam, I see you haven't been slacking in your training; let me treat you to some lunch." They went to get some lunch and talked about the different battle styles of the gym leader and about what happened at the Viridian Forest. Gary teased Liam, saying Vivian is still waiting for him, causing him to frown and have Shadow send a small Water Gun at his face. After lunch, they said their goodbyes and Gary left.
Shadow sent a Liam a message saying he still wants to battle because that battle was disappointing, Shadow was all pumped for a good fight. Liam decided to go on the Nugget Bridge because he knows Team Rocket would have some recruitment going on there, so it would be the perfect training spot to take his special moves to the next level. Liam heads out and crushes all the trainers on the bridge, including the Team Rocket members.
After they saw his strength, they knew he could be a higher up in no time, especially with that unknown Pokemon he was using, so they contacted a supervisor to come to take a look at this Pokemon causing an energetic Team Rocket member to make his way over to Liam. Liam didn't know the danger that approached him, but he continued to route 25 where Bill's house was located.
On the way, his Ember upgraded to Flamethrower and Thundershock updated to Thunderbolt, and he also learned Shadow Ball from the Shadow Realm from a mysterious being scaring Liam because he never told him that he could cross Realms now and was thinking what if there was a being there that wanted to harm him. Still, he quickly shook the thought out of his head because he knew Shadow could at least escape with Shadow Movement if anything happened.
Arbok also leveled up to 35 and learned and upgraded a few of his moves and excited that he was with a reliable trainer that took good care of him. Liam finally reached Bill's house, and he was transformed into a Clefairy, so Liam helped the bill get out of his problem and got his party invitation to the S.S. Anna in Vermillion City. After the bids Bill farewell and heads back to Cerulean City.
